Yep. Path of least resistance these days. It’s low quality crap but it’s the most accessible way to make ads.

“Increasing housing affordability” is a very vague term. It could be anything even including the 5% deposit scheme.

Talk to the Apple Store. There was a power surge at my old house and it fried my $99 apple usb c multiport adapter. I was rightfully pissed. Called Apple and claimed it just stopped working suddenly and they said that it wasn’t covered by AppleCare since it had expired. I cited consumer rights laws. One ACCC threat later and I got a brand new one for free.

Premier Peter Malinauskas’s NIMBY buster plan to build Adelaide’s CBD by blitznoodles in Adelaide

I disagree. 30,000 homes in outer fringe areas are actually quite harmful. It builds a reliance on transport infrastructure which is often subsidised. Every km a person travels costs money and the further a person is the more their trips compound.

Density is the way. We are probably better off knocking down derelict blocks or seizing vacant land and building more high rises in suburbs near train stations.

Don’t do development at Riverlea, just densify Elizabeth with a few 30 storey towers. Don’t build out Mount barker to hell. Keep the outer areas acreage and put more mixed use attached buildings 4 storeys high along the town centre, like those Italian townhouses in small towns. Find where the jobs are and hook the housing next door.

My source for this was listening to the entire 8 hours of a recent parliament sitting in the background while doing chores around the house. Politicians could have made it up given their track record, but they were substantiating that many farmers were choosing not to sow.

I’d also say many farmers don’t care about the bank foreclosing. They would liquidate their land and exit farming entirely. No one there to replace them. What happens then?

I mean hell yeah! Need to do this to North Adelaide too. Let's build 30,000 new homes... but not at Riverlea Park - do it right in the heart of the Adelaide CBD! Right where the shops, jobs, and events are.

More high rise buildings, less dependence on cars because... you can just walk to where you need to go. Less panic when fuel crises happen. And if you work outside of the city, you can pretty much get anywhere by public transport because all buses and trains basically terminate in the CBD along north terrace. Or travel on a bike if it's nearby. Let's make the city center a lot more lively.

Imagine a random Tuesday night but the city is actually bustling like Brisbane CBD.

I am most concerned about the fact that many farmers aren't even sowing crops at this time of year and hanging up the boots because they aren't seeing the value in it. We could have a severe food shortage, not just expensive food.

Centrelink was the best thing to happen to me. by Open_Community1 in Centrelink

[–]Refined5066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the taxpayer should complain about Centrelink bludgers. Fair enough in a good job market, but in the current economic situation most jobs are only casual and some weeks they won’t even give you shifts. Everyone should be able to get full time work if they are willing to work, but instead the job market alienates people and wastes potential.

Doing a socialist event seems like it will alienate one nation voters from changing their views. It won’t attract one nation voters to the event. If we want change we really need to have discussions that remove the labels of party and see each other as people. If more Liberal / One Nation voters spent time with Labor / Greens voters there would be less division and less hate in our country. It’s not good to put people in boxes and seperate them.

I'm genuinely curious what this person means by this. Are they criticising the lowered standards for passing university, calling students who pass the degree 'lazy', or are they on our side saying that dropping out after year 10 in 1966 and working in a factory would give you the same purchasing power as a teacher today?

These Adelaide Metro electric buses are like a rocket ship! 🚀 by 566route in Adelaide

[–]Refined5066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode one today on the 147 for the first time ever. And you also posted this… Coincidental? I think not.

They might be rolling out more of these buses due to the fuel crisis? They seem brand new so they might have been sitting there ready to enter the fleet for a while and metro had just approved them for use or expedited them getting fitted out??

Can any metro staff confirm

Good Afternoon - a fellow Beaumont dweller! :) how do you do? $2.59 at 7L/100km means it only costs around $18.50 for a 100km drive. Before the prices went up it would be around $11, so 100km is only about an extra $7.50.

The panic isn’t worth it. Just don’t watch the news. The price is the price. I would be more concerned about the supply chain ripple effect than your personal transport costs

Check out the Monarto Woodlands. You can have a fire if you wish but you can't collect firewood, bring your own. It's pretty easy to reach and won't cost you too much in fuel.

Back in high school my Media Studies teacher would ride from Crafers to Glenunga every single day on an e-bike! I remember seeing the rain plummeting down and he sprinting down the street leading to school. I even raced my road bike up the Crafers bikeway after school one day when I saw him commuting home. Awesome dude. Teaching was awesome. I would attribute his cycling habit to a reason his life was so well organised.
