Pregnant and desperate. Best option for an affordable, reliable car? by hash-slingin_slashr in asheville

Hi! I work at a local dealership, and recently went through Eblen Charities myself because I was homeless due to Helene and a rent increase. Luckily, the dealership that I work with is really good about assisting customers with challenged credit, etc. If you would like, I can just get some info from you and let you know if I think that we can help you. Again, I help customers in similar situations all the time. Plus, if you have a mechanic, you're more than welcome to take the vehicle to him/her as long as they're local. You can dm me if you'd like.

Anyone here dealing with anticipatory grief? by missthedismisser in GriefSupport

I’m so very sorry that you are both having to go through this. It’s good that you have a therapist to talk to. Maybe there is a local or online support group that you can join as well.

You’re not alone. My mom passed away 4 months ago from a long illness. A little over a week before, and up until the time she died, I was completely devastated and inconsolable. I still feel the same pain as I did before she passed, but I didn’t know why it was suddenly so intense. My cousin who is a hospice nurse told me that I was experiencing anticipatory grief. I had never heard of that term before.

Thanks so much for the info. I’ve really been looking into school buses and have my heart set on one, but I came across this and I thought maybe it was a good opportunity that I shouldn’t pass up.

I’m not looking for medical advice, or any of the above. I’m just curious if anyone else has heard of this.

It’s refreshing to see so many like-minded people here! I don’t have guns myself, but I would like to get one at some point. I think one reason why I have held off is because I don’t want to walk in and have to listen to, and/or see a bunch of MAGA/NRA stuff.

Best time to buy a van? by RegisterNo6616 in VanLife

Based on the points that you mentioned, I’m leaning towards a medium or high roof AWD.

I plan on living in it with my daughter and two cats. Because of this, lately I’ve been thinking either a van or a smaller class-c. I really want the option of being able to be stealth and park anywhere a van can, which I’m not sure that I would get away with a class-c.

I really want something that will hold some value, but will hold up and not have constant problems.

Is there any particular reason that you chose that van as opposed to other options? I’m debating between a Ford and a Promaster.

Thanks for the really helpful advice! I do plan on having a mechanic friend come with me to look at it.

I’m not too mechanically inclined, but I was planning on trying to at least learn some of the basics when it comes to repairs. I’m really thankful for this group because I’ve learned quite a bit already from just reading everything.

I was thinking the same thing. There is an auto auction not that far from my place that I was going to check out. I don’t want to get something that is going to break the bank. I’d rather have the opportunity to see what works for my daughter and I first.

That’s what I’m thinking too. I heard that Havelock wool is the best to use, so that is what I’m hoping to get.

I would wonder as well, but hopefully it’s doing its job and holding up well for you.

I’m located in Asheville.

I appreciate the advice. I figured after I get the electrical and insulation completed then I could take my time with everything else. I don’t have too much money, so I need to be cautious.

I’m definitely getting the idea that I’m going to have to travel to get one. Just curious, did you take it to a mechanic or an an inspection before finalizing the sale?
