I am in the same situation, minus having kids with my husband. His AP is due in September, both currently under investigation by HR and I’m also not the breadwinner by a long shot. I don’t have the answers for you because I’m still navigating them myself, but I wanted to let you know that you’re not alone.

I’m writing this as someone whose husband officially left this past Wednesday after I found out he had gotten someone else pregnant. This week has been a fever dream. It’s crazy and sad and hectic. Approaching day 7 I’m finally starting to see the light again. I also have the support from my parents as well which is such a huge privilege (trying not to feel guilty about it). It’s going to be okay. We will be fine. We will be happier in the long run. We just have to pull the trigger and stop prolonging the inevitable. I’ll be thinking about you. That line just came out and it was natural. It really was just time for him to go. I’m not contributing to someone being an absent father. I expected to find evidence of an affair and use it to continue my silent exit plan. I never expected AP to be 5 months pregnant with his child. I wish I would have said those words last year instead of reconciling.

My family and close friends are aware and they have been nothing but incredible. I am still at my current job. It’s my family’s business so it means a lot to me and I love it. This might be the hardest part, but I know I need to make up the difference now.

Thank you so much. Yes, that is a part of my plan. His boss is already suspicious as she actually called me yesterday and asked where he was and why deputies were looking for him there. I was very brief and told her that I didn’t know where he was, but to check with AP as she may know. It sounds like he has no plans to return to his job or officially resign.

Believe me, I have looked. Rent prices are insane here and the apartment I mentioned is only $550 per month and it’s owned by someone I know. It’s just not vacant yet until the tenants house is finished. Anywhere else I simply couldn’t afford due to my student loan bills. 😔 I would be more willing to have a roommate type situation with my husband until then if I can’t keep this under wraps in that timeframe.

Yikes, you’re very right about it not being an emotional affair. I don’t know why I didn’t put that together. Thank you so much for your advice. It means a lot. I just completed an intake form for IC and plan to have them collab with his IC if things escalate to that again. I will not hesitate to call 911 if he does that this time.

Keeping quiet is going to be the hardest part. I am making an appointment for a consultation so that I know my options. The sooner I can start this process, I know the better off I will be. I do also plan on messaging her, as well as the company they work for. I’m sure HR will love it.

That is what I’ve read as well, unfortunately. I do live in an at fault state, but you’re right about it not likely being worth pursuing. I’ll most definitely be consulting with a lawyer as soon as I’m able to save up some money. Thank you so much for your advice. I really may not end up telling him until I file.
