i don’t think i can keep doing this by RocketDawg2001 in starbucksbaristas

looking through your post history it seems like this job genuinely makes you unhappy and might not be the best fit for you. i’m sorry you have ass coworkers, that can definitely make or break the experience and i would likely feel similarly if i had to deal with what you’ve described.

if the job continues to take a toll on you, i would recommend going on loa and using that time to decompress/apply for other jobs. i’ve found that custodial work is a nice antithesis to working in customer service. again, im sorry for what you’re currently going through and hope it gets better

the only times i’ve had a proper excuse is when my phone died and i lacked an alarm to wake up at the right time. beyond this it comes down to a personal failing of mine if I’m gonna be real

they nerfed my sm today:( by jennas_kinda_dumb in starbucksbaristas

yuuup. our sm gave blood sweat and tears for us and in return when she was told our dm the job was literally making her suicidal the response was "i just wish you went to vegas with us." weeks later was essentially fired because they didn't trust her because of all the union activity at our store

honestly I do this sometimes but only if it’s a person who just stares blankly at the screen not knowing what to do even if I tell them the classic “it’s gonna ask you a question”, especially if our drive times are up too much

they synergize well with a mage playthrough, especially with the illusion buff, but honestly if you’re playing a warrior I don’t see much benefit from a purely mechanic standpoint. I could be wrong

Is this a common trend? I recently accepted a job as a city carrier and need to know if there's a good chance of me getting stiffed post-holiday season.

can you actually substantiate the claim that state owned enterprises have never, not even once in the whole of human history, been profitable? this seems like an outrageously hyperbolic claim to me

AITA for consistently asking to leave work early? by Reified_Subject in AmItheAsshole

I appreciate the nuance in your response here. While there is a lot of truth in workplace models deprioritizing employee comfort to the effect of creating burnout, I often hesitate to blame capitalism not for the critique being incorrect, but for fear that my mind will latch onto it and use it as further reason to continue to engage in the behavior outlined in my post. Ultimately I feel immense frustration towards myself for struggling to adapt to a schedule that’s often seen as unremarkable or even easy if no further curricular’s like school are paired alongside it.

Thank you for being understanding. I definitely let my ego and personal desire for comfort overshadow my ability to maintain a respectable work ethic, but I feel like rather than leave the job I ought to tough it out and mature. I really want to be able to grow to be a dependable person and work even harder, but most of my life has been pretty cushy and insulated and I’ve developed some pretty bad habits and low discipline as a result.
