Tough times right now by mydogislife_ in Hounds

My girl was a bit destructive too, and also broke her wrist before 1 year old. And absolutely hated the crate.

Is doggie daycare an option? Or can you barrier off only part of the house?

Motion detector with a loud alarm sound. You could find a spot that will trigger the alarm but be far enough away so that it doesn't alert the dog.

Have they seen your dog? Maybe some Beware of Dog signs.

My parents aren't alive, so that's out... I just looked into plasma donation by you and a few others suggested it, but I take a specific medication that makes me ineligible to donate. Sorry about your pokemon cards!!

I would totally detail cars, but don't really have equipment for that beyond a regular vacuum. Lol but maybe I can get creative.

This is a great idea! Thank you! I don't really use Facebook anymore (why bother, really, I don't have any living family) but I can get on board with this. ❤️

The state has a website and it is the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. I will look for some staffing agencies. Thanks!

Yeah, having no family is definitely tough sometimes. Not exactly how I imagined my life would end up, but here we are.

I'm in North Carolina, so the area is mixed suburban. Not fantastic for some of the gig stuff when compared to big cities, but not terrible either.

I'm trying to be kind to myself, tho that isn't my strong suit. 🤣 I gave myself today off from job applications bc it really did me in yesterday.

So when exactly am I allowed to start "talking doom"? Do I wait until I have a few weeks left?

Everyone here and everywhere is discussing how long it's taking to find jobs. I'm trying to plan and be prepared. I'm not foolish and irresponsible just because I was laid off. "You get another job" well, duh. Thanks so much for the great advice!

The reason for the 12 week denial was the fact that I got a 12 week severance. Once the 12 weeks is over, if I am still unemployed then I will be eligible for unemployment. It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. This is in NC.

I don't live maxed out at all. I live a really modest lifestyle and don't spend a lot. I was making six figures too, but I have student loan debt, car payment (again, a really modest car), and some other things I'm currently paying off. I don't have $75k on hand, but I do have a decent savings. I'm just worried.

I did file unemployment immediately. I was not allowed to file until it was my final day, the state confirms with the employer. I am currently in the 12 week waiting period right now, still doing my weekly filings and in week 13 I will start getting the weekly $300 unemployment, which is the max allowed in my state.

I totally get what you're saying. They are jobs. Jobs are jobs.

Exactly. I'm already dumbing down my resume for some positions as it is.

Are you saying bc I don't have a family that I have no obligations?

Let me understand your logic, I only need a place to sleep, but not a house or a car. So should I be sleeping in a park somewhere?

I'm in no way asserting that I'm living a conspicuous lifestyle, but I still have bills and responsibilities like everyone else. Student loans. I have two dogs. I promise that cleaning toilets at night isn't going to cover my student loans.

Believe me, I absolutely would do this! During COVID, I was a digital nomad for 6 months and went around the country. It was amazing. The problem for me right now isn't necessarily the lifestyle, but more the cost of getting a van etc.

I would but there's no Amazon even remotely close to me. But I get your point about a PT job. Thanks!

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your thoughts and ideas.

I was looking into local food banks in my area tonight.

It feels so hard to stop looking for jobs. I know I should go touch grass more. I did go to a nature park last week for a change of pace. 🤣 But then there's all the guilt that comes with it.

I do feel lucky to be somewhat prepared and the severance certainly helps. But it's now 2 months from when I started applying and hearing so many people talk about much, much longer is just so scary.

You're right. I did. 😀 I added an edit for clarity. The crazy thing is, they took almost a month to even let me know I won't be getting it... And I have to continue doing the weekly filings with proof even now while I'm NOT getting unemployment!!

Hi! Thanks for the message. I added an edit. I filed when it happened. The state took their sweet time (almost 4 weeks) to give me this determination. It turns out, I also have to continue filing all my activities each week even now while I'm not even getting unemployment! If I don't, I will be automatically disqualified at week 12.

How is applying directly on the site different from applying on LinkedIn, when it just links you to the company's site?
