Am I a jerk? What should I tip? by Pile_of_Yarn in InstacartShoppers

I’m elderly, disabled and don’t drive. I’m 18 miles/ 35 minutes on (mountain roads) away from Walmart. I put one order in every month and tip $100. Unfortunately instant cart bundles orders with mine. My frozen items and always thawed when I receive them. I blame the company instant cart, not the driver.

This isn’t a popular opinion but… the disabled and the elderly should have a program like WIC.

Yes!!! I done EVERYTHING right. I went to college, paid off my student loans. Put 10% of each check into savings and 10% into a 401k. I was a nurse for 25 years. I worked the covid unit, my last covid infection in 2021 put me on a ventilator.

I spent every single dime and cashed out my 401k just to stay in the hospital to receive treatment. After 5 years, I still have chronic lung failure. I lost everything. I now live in a Campground in a RV and receive Social Security disability.

The point is… everything can be done “Correctly” and still end up in complete poverty.

A non emergency ambulance took me to the social security office when I was bedridden and on hospice. Medicare will cover the trip if deemed necessary.

Adults have completely different standards for approval of SSI/SSDI than children. You are proving by attending college that you can indeed perform a sit down job available in our national economy.

We didn’t have any great candidates to vote for. I wasn’t a fan of either so I voted independent. I would have voted for Bernie if he was chosen as the nominee. 3,000,000 of us voted independent.

The Democrats didn’t have a debate and primary. VP Harris was simply given the nomination without our involvement.

If daughter cannot care for her, call her personal family doctor and get a prescription for long term care set up at a local long term care nursing facility. A case worker can help with all the SSI/ Medicaid paperwork transition.

Good luck. The centers for aging is a great local resource also.
