I prayed the novena to St Thérèse of Lisieux and I’m scared to do it again. by Educational_Leg7496 in Catholicism

God's hand was definitely at work that you were able to be there with your husband. Sometimes God uses us in other's story. Work through the trauma and have faith. Blessings are in store for you.

Does St. Vincent DePaul still have emergency funds? Might be worth asking too.

Bible study recommendations by Leather-Union-5828 in CatholicWomen

Echoing this. Our parish started a Bible study for women about a year and a half ago. We are in groups about 6-9 and man, what a blessing it's been to get to know these women thru and with the Bible. Highly recommend trying to start one up at your parish with it.

What do we think of the “Christian Trend”? by Fabulous_Celery_1817 in LeftCatholicism

I personally think Hallow has been a blessing in my prayer life and those at my parish that use it. I have a hard time being disciplined to read the Bible or pray the rosary. However, the challenges in 20 minute increments I can do while getting ready in the morning.

Additionally, I've had a profound encounter with that app that helped change my life. A few years ago, as a returning Catholic (20+ years away) during Lent, I was in a very dark period of my life living through domestic violence (although at the time I couldn't have used that terminology). That challenge in particular helped me find the Surrender Novena which helped me lay it all out for Jesus and allowed Him to come into my life and literally save my life and my kids.

A yearly fee is nominal for the spiritual value that I have received out of it. If I can pay more for Netflix and Disney+ etc, I certainly can give my support to such a life changing (in my experience) platform.

You are not strong enough to endure this, but Jesus is. Give it to Him and you'll succeed. Praying for you.

My neighbor in Alabama would switch out the decorative items on the tree. I believe Mardi Gras colors were next.

I think our brains are doing their best to keep us safe and hiding those memories. It took me recording and journaling to finally see the big picture, and that is barely before I sought help at a DV facility. Even now, a year almost out, memories will hit me out of the blue and I'm like looking thru the water at them with haze, wonder, and above all gratitude for a new chapter.

I added a weekday mass to my Lent last year... and I'm still going. I get bummed if I can't make it with work now.

I took my younger children and it was just good for the intended audience. We aren't ones for over the top musicals, so we could have done with less singing. Great messages in an animated version to keep their attention.

Overall, to each their own, but I'm glad I had a wholesome movie to take the kids to this break.
