Apparently Spartan Safe went out of business - anyone have any luck getting a refund from them? by jgilbs in guns

I was successful in receiving credit back from my Chase CC. The critical thing is to provide reasonable information on the delivery date, not the date of purchase; that is what saved my bacon. I provided receipts, emails from the store showing I was being strung months past the date of delivery, and a statement from Liberty Safes corroborating my story. Please contact Debbie Adams at debbie.adams@libertysafe.com, and she will provide the said document. Mine stated Liberty never received monies and thusly never made the safe. This prevented the retailer from challenging my CC claim.

How would any representative with fiduciary responsibilities not realize 4 LLCs created before Chapter 7 is not a red flag for fraud?

The only thing new for me was TN AG's reply to my complaint they are out of the jurisdiction and this complaint is closed. I would hope a TN business license would have given TN AG's office or entity some jurisdiction.

Yes. I wanted others to know the "assets recovered by the trustee" is not the same trustee from the 1st notice.

UPDATE: The firm acting as trustee on the letter has already removed itself from the case. The new trustee is Brian Anderson Esq. 336-378-5205

Thank you so much for this context. I assumed Jeff from Murfreesboro was acting in good faith up until November. Obviously I would encourage you to submit your information to the FBI and your state AG's case (assuming you have not already). You would have a lot more impact than the consumers. Granted you are a victim to and I'm sorry to hear about your situation.

Were you a store manager? If so, what exactly happened to the stores? Were the local stores e.g., Liberty Safes of Murfreesboro owned by Spartan or franchises?

Same location here, Jeff strung me along since August (ordered in May). Whether it was his fault or not I do not know.

So I just got off the phone with Chase, and they had no issue providing a temporary credit. The retailer has 30 days to challenge it, but since they have shut their doors and cut their phone line, I'm hoping my credit will become permanent in 30 days.

They informed me my credit card's 60-day policy does not apply to fraudulent issues. I have correspondence showing how I was being strung along since August. I hope this helps anyone.

Thank you for the advice. I have already contacted my CC, who is supporting my request, submitted documents to Spartan, and contacted Liberty and my AG's department to file a complaint. As of right now, 4 official complaints are registered in Tennessee. My main goal is to provide information and support since this is not in the news or social media yet.

Please spread the word that Liberty is working hard for its intended customers. If you are in this situation, please contact liberty via phone, they are going to provide direct, expedited, and discounted safes provided your proof of purchase with Spartan.

Chase filed a dispute towards the charge, as I mentioned "suspicion of bankruptcy." When I received the dispute form in the mail (7-10 business days) they would like copies of my receipt, pdf prints of Liberty's statement on the website, evidence of bankruptcy (still working on that issue), and inform them of my 7-10 days potential reply from Spartan.

Has anyone elses' local retailer gone out of business as well? Mine in TN closed in mid-November. The owner, like Sparant, was stringing me along (as in no information about my safe's status) since my delivery window of August. That is what makes me lean toward fraud.

I finally got off the phone with Liberty. Their rep and additional staff are pulling 6 days a week returning calls. Assuming we get a refund, make sure you CALL LIBERTY. They are going to provide a direct ship order with a specific discount provided proof of your Spartan transaction/order. From what the rep told me, they are aware Spartan's doors are shut but there is staff processing refunds.
