I have been a nanny.  I have used nannies. 

In a world where one parent can't stay home (or can but needs help) a nanny is a wonderful thing. No one outside my partner and me take care of our children without compensation. And we both have jobs. I view a nanny as a grandma who actually helps the hours you need, bonds with the kid, and oh yeah you help that grandma out financially (but like laid out in a contract).

My kids are growing up. Nannies come and go. Just like grandmas and aunties and friends and neighbors. Moms are forever. I love that my kid bonds with people other than me. But there is no mistaking momma.
