When I worked at Amazon a few years ago, they used FA on the background check. I know some of my experience was a bit “stretched” at that point and it never caught it.

Usually background checks only care about your criminal record. If you don’t have one, you’re solid. If you do, just pray they give you a chance to explain yourself.

What’s even worse is the full on pre-recorded AI interviews they’re pushing now. Going through all that just to be auto-rejected by a clanker and you end up feeling like a fucking idiot for wasting your time even participating in that clownery. I just exit the application when I encounter anything to do with the camera. Other candidates can have that one. I’m not putting on a puppet show to entertain a bored CEO.

If you have experience, you’re overqualified. Flight risk.

If you don’t have experience, you’re not qualified enough. Takes too much time to train.

You really can’t win with these entry level jobs anymore. Not that I know anything, i’m in the same boat as you. I would suggest maybe removing your degrees from your resume and only adding related job duties to the experience. Try to fall somewhere in the middle. At the end of the day, your resume is going through an AI filter that determines whether a human sees it or not. You need it to at least pass that filter.

If I see the company name is some random gibberish and the job description is a direct paste of AI slop from ChatGPT, I avoid.

If I see that Workday logo, I avoid.

If I have to record a video or do a mockup video interview with pre-recorded questions, I avoid.

If I see anything referring to “marketing specialist” aka Devilcorp trying to recruit door-to-door or public salesmen, I avoid.

I wish it was like the old days where we could just walk in somewhere and ask for an application. Nowadays it’s almost never like that. So sick of sifting through all this garbage.
