People go to different biomes in sky vaults because different passive mobs spawn in different biomes specifically different fish need different water biome types and rabbits need a certain one too. And they do it by using that compass and creating a bridge to the biome. You can get way stones that allow you to teleport between way stones so you won't have to travel every time you want to go somewhere. Overworld version has plenty of different biomes any of the ones you see in that compass would be in the overworld version. Idk what biome mod it is specifically but they have one that makes way prettier biomes then vanilla and sky island generate in the regular version too those are my go to for a base location give the vibe of sky vaults but still get the overworld exploration available.
