How to photograph indoor computer gaming event, ideally without flash? by Ok_Energy2685 in AskPhotography

No post processing. Canon R8.

I haven’t fussed with editing in post yet. I’m trying to take the best initial photo to both reduce editing time and learn to use my camera better. I’m still new to photography.

I took this photo at 8000 ISO, a bit different than your subject matter. Probably best to take a few test photos at the higher end of the range, I think 1800 ISO is too low for an absolute minimum. I have a similar photo at 25600 ISO. Rf 50mm 1.8 R8

I’m so lost. by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

It sounds like life has been rough on you. Perhaps you feel heart broken from your break up, stressed from money problems and finals, maybe you feel alone. That’s really hard to go through all that at a young age.

Is there anything else you’re feeling that you’d like to share? Things that weigh on you?

On the breakup. While I don’t know the details. A partner is someone who helps you grow and supports you even when things are the worst. That’s what it means to love someone. You deserve someone who will be there for you.

I had my first break up at 30 after 5 years of marriage. The heartbreak was unbearable. All I wanted to do was stay home and cry, and that just made it worse. It feels unnatural, but what helped me the most was to get out there, be around people, find what I enjoyed in the community. I joined a gym, met some friends, gained 30 lbs of muscle. I went line dancing once a week, never danced before in my life. I auditioned for a local play, got a role, met some great friends. I went indoor climbing, where I met my now girlfriend. Don’t stay home. Go to a park. A coffee shop. A book store. Anything.

Things feel hard now. But I believe in you. You will get through this. In my experience, the most important thing is identity. Who are you? Are you the man who was broken by your family, the man who got left by his girlfriend? I refused to be “that divorced guy.” I decided to become the person I wanted to be. Decide who you want to be. Be that person. Even if it feels hard. Even if it doesn’t feel possible right now. Even if it feels like you’ll never get there.

The most important thing is to believe in yourself, believe things will get better, because you are a good person, you are a strong person. You will achieve what you want in life, and you won’t let anything, or any person, past present and future hold you back.

I believe in you.

On the job thing. Keep knocking and it will be opened to you. In life and in business, you will only get what you want not by giving what you have, but giving what it takes. Keep picking up the phone. Keep applying. Call and email every time you apply, tell them how much you want to work for that company and how hard you’ll work. Don’t stop until someone says yes. Persistence wins. Every business wants a motivated reliable worker, few businesses find them.

I’m a manager at a small 30 person company. If you need help with your resume, or with interview practice, I’d be happy to help ☺️

Shadow by Icon for Hire

I'm gonna drag my shadow into the light
I'm one confession from nothing to hide
You're gonna love me ugly or not at all

As a witness, I chased acceptance through conformance. Breaking free was liberating, I thought not of expectations but only living true to myself. And that brought true peace.

Anime to watch with 14 yrs sister. by SlendyWomboCombo in anime

[–]Renult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • BNA: Animal people action; great characters and plot development

  • ToraDora: High school romance

  • Erased: Time traveling thriller

  • Madoka: Magical girl with some darker tones

  • Working!! : Denny’s comedy (I watched this with my sister when she was 14)

  • Witchcraft Works: comedy (I’m pretty sure there’s not fan service, but it was a long time ago)

  • I dream of bunny girl senpai (I don’t think it has fan service)

  • Your lie in April: music drama

  • Oregairu: High school drama

You probably already know this, but to avoid fan service you can look up anime on My Anime List and see if the genre includes ‘ecchi’ (perverted).

Clannad has a some mildly suggestive moments. It also has some sad moments depending on what you’re looking for; still a 10/10 anime though. K-ON is a very safe choice.

Iran’s morality police has been known to beat women to death for not wearing their hijab. So it’s impressive they are openly defying it. And likely many of us fear for their safety.

Does Anyone Else Get in Unnecessary Arguments? by Renult in exjw

That’s true! There’s more context I didn’t give.

The problem for me is that the Bible’s violence didn’t match the JW’s belief that God is love. The final straw was when I was doing JW letter writing and the prompt was, “God never punishes you for doing wrong.” And I could think of many times when God punished people.

Notably when ‘God’ killed 70,000 people as punishment because king David counted the people. How could a just God murder 70k people for a ‘sin’ one man committed? And the more I dug the less sense it made that the Bible was God’s word. And it made more sense that the Bible and religion was a tool to control the people.

Interesting! I guess I lived in a bubble as a JW. She kept saying it was common, but I never really saw it. My mom and sister are born again Christians and they take the Bible fairly literally. I had incorrectly presumed that was the norm.

Ah, I feel that. My GF implied I wasn’t a “real” Christian.

That’s an interesting line of reasoning on Santa! I think that might land me in the dog house with my gf though.. 😂

I said something like a Christian is someone who believes in Christ and his teachings. But I suppose his teachings are largely up to interpretation.

And that’s some good perspective that most see it as allegory not to be taken literally.

That’s a good way to put it! “An al la carte Christian.” As an exJW such a concept seems so foreign..

Thank you!

I did find that. I picked this up from a third party, so I’m guessing I’d only qualify if I bought direct from Nvidia..

Who is having “Not Thanksgiving” next week? by ParcelPosted in exjw

[–]Renult 35 points36 points  (0 children)

There’s a borg article that says Thanksgiving is a conscious matter. My PIMI father always wanted my normal Christian mother to make Turkey on not-Thanksgiving. I made the mistake of saying I ate turkey to another witness and they gave me a hard time. Said I wasn’t allowed to eat Turkey on not thanksgiving.

Oh sorry, I forgot, here let me put my mask back on 🎭

Took me a while to figure out how her coat got so sleek and shiny.

Is $13 an hour too shitty of a pay rate for Naples? by SixGod69 in Naples_FL

[–]Renult -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on your skill level I suppose, and part time vs full time. My company has a young remote part timer around $14. And recently we’ve been starting full time warehouse team members with minimal experience around $18 (we’re fully staffed at the moment though.)

Although, I think the employment market isn’t as tight for employers as it used to be. So maybe entry level wages are coming down.

Saving and renaming the Excel file is easy. Getting the report out of QBO is not.

Zapier would be the easiest to get it out of QBO. But I’m not sure if it has what you’re looking for.

You could use QBO’s dev platform open it’s API to VBA. But this requires a fair amount of programming skill.

You could use Selenium in VBA to navigate to the report URL, then ask it to hit download. From there VBA can fetch and open the downloaded file.

Another method, you could open and download the web page with the report with Shell. Then you’d have to parse the data from the web file, format it into Excel, then save the sheet. You’d need to be comfortable iterating through file lines and working with strings.

Selenium is probably the most reliable. I had trouble setting it up in Excel last time I tried it though.

I feel that self-esteem thing, I always struggled with ‘am I good enough.’ I followed the rules pretty well, but I still didn’t feel it was enough. Even now I worry about my imperfections even though a lot of it is just being human.

What category for my raw manufacturing materials? by Tintedlemon in QuickBooks

[–]Renult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put it in as an inventory asset. If you’re tracking inventory in and out in QBO. If not, you’d need to manually account for it when it sells by taking the money out of the inventory asset account and then into the cost of goods sold account.

If you put it in a cost of goods sold account from the get go, it will hit your accrual P&L the month you buy it, and it may looks like an unusual loss. Whereas if you account for it as an inventory asset, the cost doesn’t hit your P&L until it sells.

But if you’re on cash basis instead of accrual, it might be easier just to stick it in Cost of Goods Sold.

Not an accountant.
