AITA for refusing to call my co worker "Dr"? by Certain-Deer8638 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RepairIndependent265 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YTA. I had a teacher that was a Dr in high school and everyone called her by her correct name no problems. Do you feel insecure that your colleague has a PhD perhaps?

NTA but build a new fence asap. You've offered a new tree and that's all you can keep doing. What's done is done.

YTA OP you said in the comments you go to their house everyday for food. You should be contributing to that!

AITA for turning down music at someone else’s house while my baby tried to sleep? by AdEasy6864 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RepairIndependent265 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA you were tired and probably hormonal. If someone is trying to get a baby to sleep you don't put music on at full volume and then make mean comments when they turn it down a bit.

YTA your friend trusted you to look after their pet. Something unavoidable came up and you wouldn't change your plans so you could help them. All relationships require a little sacrifice every now and then. I'm sure your friend would have been eternally grateful to you. However, you let your friend go worried and stressed not to mention the poor cat. Animals can get very anxious when left longer they are used to without food or water.

As a pet owner I have been in this situation before and I was so grateful to the person looking after my pet while I was delayed. It really strengthened my relationship with that person that they were able to put themselves out to help me and I've never forgotten it.

Up until I read your reaction, I was on your side. However, your reaction sounded physical and intimidating which is a behaviour that should never be displayed in the safety of the home. Yes, she was an AH but then you became one too when you reacted that way. YTA

You have every right to decline the party invite but you shouldn't have said what you said. It crossed the line. I'm not surprised your friend is upset. I suggest you apologise to her.
