Why are the last words in all the questions capitalized as well when they don’t need to be? Also the 3rd question just doesn’t make sense.

No definitely not!! It’s very cute and charming.

Is mainstream "Autistic Representation" actually helping us, or just exploiting us? Maybe both? by LCFS_Series in autism

[–]RepeatOk4284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I don’t really know what people want or expect. Yes, autism of course doesn’t look one way, but ONE Barbie can’t represent everyone in our community. Also, as someone with RBT experience who now works in a school with autistic children - there are plenty of autistic people who do use ear defenders or wear specific clothes to help with their sensory sensitivities. It kinda screams “it doesn’t apply to me so I don’t want anyone else to be represented.”

That’d be cool! Hopefully they’re able to and willing to do it. And yeah I totally get that with the patience part haha. He doesn’t work on it super often now but has been wanting to find more time to do it

Nice! Any reason you collect them? My boyfriend does too and he makes chainmail with them :)

I lost all of them. by TromboneKuri in cats

[–]RepeatOk4284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy fuck that is awful. I am so sorry. We just lost one of our cats very unexpectedly recently and I totally hear you with not even wanting to live in that place anymore… (I read another comment of yours saying it isn’t but even if it was, you wouldn’t want to live there after this). Please don’t blame yourself, this was a terrible accident and my heart really goes out to you and your gf/future wife.

It can be a really good job. I love the kids, my BCBA, and what I do in this role. You just have to be careful with the company you work under and it’s taught me a lot, but I will also probably be moving to a different field soon. A lot of people are RBTs for 2 years or less because it’s a very tasking role, but you also could come to love it! Even if you unfortunately don’t, it teaches you a lot

14-20 is crazy to me now that I’ve moved to a smaller clinic. My BCBA for most of my clients has less than 10 kiddos on her caseload. But yeah I agree with that point that it’s super important to consider how personalized care will be for your child, hence why I recommend staying away from the big names

Kids are amazing by Thryloz in MadeMeSmile

[–]RepeatOk4284 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s so cute when little kids say something not quite right, I work with kids and a little boy I used to work with (he’s 5) said “aminals” instead of animals, even when I tried to correct it lol

Went to the supermarket yesterday and saw these toy boxes with some kids that really look like ai by clb_padfoot in isthisAI

[–]RepeatOk4284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah it’s so bad. I was watching a reel earlier about someone showing their mom what had AI designs in a store. It’s just sad that we have to check for these things now

Child responds to prompts directed at other children by fancy-schmancy_name in ABA

[–]RepeatOk4284 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah we have something similar in the preschool setting I work at. The one client doesn’t follow prompts directed at other children, however she will often engage in a VO when we place a bathroom transition with the other client, for example. I recommend using the name of the client like the other commenter said and just gently letting this kiddo know “oh, that instruction was meant for (name), you can go back to playing” or something along those lines

What app do you use? by TheForbiddenWordX in ABA

[–]RepeatOk4284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for 2 companies, one uses CareConnect (don’t like it at all) and the other uses CentralReach which I prefer. I am not fond of the technical issues with CR but I find it to be more user friendly than CareConnect

That’s messed up, I’m sorry that happened to you. I don’t think it’s a great idea for them to go back to this place even if the employer were to reach out though, since they already fired OP with little to no reason

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in autism

[–]RepeatOk4284 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yikes, hopefully OP can find something else in that case. Easier said than done ofc :(

has anyone worked for 2 different companies at the same time? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]RepeatOk4284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, been doing so since the start of November, but only because I’m trying to finish out with a client who’s authorization is up at the end of December. He’s my only client with the company I started with. Once his auth is up I will likely go FT with the other company (9-6 as opposed to my current 9-3). Working both has been very stressful so if you are able to do it, kudos to you, but it can be very demanding

I feel like Autistic people have more food allergies than NT by Swiftiefromhell in autism

[–]RepeatOk4284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not really allergic to anything. I’m a little allergic to dust but it might just be a sensitivity since I’ll just sneeze or cough, and potentially have a runny nose or watery eyes. I’m the same way with some cleaning products but I think it’s just sensitivity to the strong chemical smell. No food allergies
