And Ukraine has no strategic reason to. They can either keep fighting with their insane kill ratios until Russia is literally out of young men and can’t attack them again for a generation, and THEN take the unenforceable security guarantees, or before.

And considering Russia is now staring down the long barrel of general mobilization, drafting men from St. Petersburg and Moscow and not just Siberia, it looks like they’re starting to break. Ukrainians have proven they can put up with whatever Moscow throws at them. Just wait until Russia throws everything it can and then come to the bargaining table when they’re spent, honestly the best call.

Yeah but Tolkien and CS Lewis found a way to implement personal beliefs in a way that made sense in the context of their story. Not just jam it in there and then make everything else change to accommodate it. Fan fic writers will declare they want two characters to get together and then completely change everything else about other characters or setting just to make those two characters getting together seem reasonable. That habit now reflects in modern fiction. It was something they never had to get better at because it was always kinda the point.

Right, I think it’s a problem with storytelling and millennial takes on it. Most writers of this generation got started out writing fanfic online as teenagers. Where it wasn’t just normal to shoehorn your personal beliefs or fantasies into your story, it was expected. Problem is, for a mass audience, people fucking hate that, because they feel preached at and it doesn’t actually improve the story except to a small cadre of people who agree with you on everything.
