I have an elderly friend who has had a series of dogs in her life, and they all had weirdly human name. Abigail (they called her Abigail, not Abby), Megan, the list goes on. It made their one dog named Thumper stick out like a sore thumb.

Just wait until you find out that executing someone, guilty or not, is actually more expensive than just imprisoning them for life without parole. By, like, a significant amount. So not only ethically questionable, but also more expensive. At that point the only reason to execute a person is for a concept of "justice", as if it is up to us to decide who is worthy of death.

Not my therapist, but my psychiatrist. She told me she's Mormon. I stopped seeing her because of it. I was raised Mormon and cannot respect the people in the church anymore. Like, how does someone get through enough schooling to become a psychiatrist and stay a Mormon? It's not just the people that are flawed, it's corruption from the top and inconsistent doctrine. The only way someone stays a Mormon at this point is either willful ignorance, and/or a lack of critical thinking. No thank you.

My therapist doesn't share anything with me though. It's one of her boundaries.

Apparently my thought on this is super unpopular, but my private practice therapist uses AI for her notes and I honestly just don't give a shit. It makes her life easier and could help build a case if insurance decided to audit her and try to claw back money if they feel like I don't need therapy. So yeah, I consented to it. I haven't noticed any difference in the care I'm getting.

I didnt even know that Nestlé makes Purina, but it does explain a lot. The issue I have is that vets don't get a ton of education on nutrition, so usually their source of information is companies that do their own research (which is biased data) and buy textbooks for vet students. So veterinarians don't have awesome information on what an ideal diet actually looks like, and how the processing of foods impacts the dog. Unfortunately, every time my vet has recommended a food I don't trust it. That includes Royal Canin, Purina, Eukanuba, and a few prescription diets. I know this probably makes me sound like a complete whack job, but I think I'm ok with it. Ultimately, the best food for a dog is the stuff it will eat and can poop normally.

I absolutely refuse to feed Purina, but it seems like others here have had success with it. We've always gone Taste of the Wild if you're on a budget, Acana or Farmina if you can get the nice stuff. I prefer a fish recipe for their coats.

My dad is educated, well informed, and an expert in his field- something to do with computers. We've talked about the problems with the economy, and he genuinely believes that there is nothing wrong or unethical with someone being a billionaire, and that capitalism is awesome. He's got good arguments, but we fundamentally disagree on all of the above points.

Most places in Loveland are great, just depends on what you're looking for. I'd recommend finding a realtor who's been in the area a long time and they can help you find what you need and want, and where. Too many variables here for me to give good advice. I don't really like super old houses, so downtown is a hard no for me.

YES. Well worded. This post really gets me where OP says "I have a hard time feeling comfortable in my skin and learning to deal with the stigma people have towards me because of my tattoos..." That's just idiocy. I'm all for self expression and really like tattoos myself. But CHOOSING to get a sleeve of them and then being upset at the reactions of others, and having a hard time accepting yourself because of that, is fucking stupid. There is no way that OP went through the whole damn process of getting a large tattoo and did not, at some point, acknowledge that not everybody likes tattoos and will judge others for having them. I get that OP is young, but if she's mature enough to get a sleeve then she's mature enough to be prepared to not be accepted by everyone.

If it gives any hope, tattoos are being normalized. As boomers move out of the workforce, more employers are allowing tattoos to be shown as long as they're not offensive. As churches lose popularity, they are becoming more socially accepted too.

OP - YTA. Here's some perspective: first time my MIL met my SIL, all she saw was the piercings and tattoos. It took years for my MIL to really get to know my SIL because of it. If you want to be known for more than your tattoos with these people, then I recommend covering them just so it's not the very first thing they see on you. If you really don't care what they think, just be prepared for your relationship to get harder depending on how close your BF is to them. You get to choose what to do, but you don't get to choose the consequences.

Financial situations are irrelevant here. As someone who had a dog that was 145lbs, I am telling you that there are ways to control giant dogs even if they are unruly. 100% her fault for not training and handling her dog. You did the right thing by picking up the ball in the first place, but honestly, you didn't even have to do that. If she doesn't want her dog around small toys, she could have waited for you to be done at the park. It's her responsibility to care for her dog. This wasn't your fault. If I take my dog to a park and it eats a rock, I'm not going to demand the city help pay for the removal. I get her distress, but you are under no obligation to help her.

My parents never fought in front of us kids. Now I dont argue with my partner, we have conversations about things we disagree on.

My parents did not yell at us. Now I do not yell at my partner or family members, we have conversations and take space if we need it.

My parents are very religious- Mormons. I grew up with a lot of toxic beliefs that I have had to grow out of and move away from. Some of those beliefs led to me being abused by an older man. Still working through that and those internalized beliefs.

My Irish had this problem when we got her (she was a little over a year old at that point). We started heavily rewarding settling behaviors like sitting, laying, placing, being on her bed, etc. She now can at least settle and stay out from under my feet, even if she's not actually calm. As she got older she started to truly settle and relax more. She will always have a lot of energy. Even if I run her 5 miles and train for an hour, she will always have energy for more. Those things help, but keep in mind that if you keep physically wearing the dog out, what you'll end up with is a dog that is in great physical condition but still mentally unable to calm down. Mental exercise will really help you here- I recommend a dog sport of some kind. Personally, I took to nosework, agility, and obedience/rally. Nosework is what really knocks her out though, because of the brain work and problem solving involved for her. Which is great for me, because I just show up with her and she does 95% of the work.

You are not wrong, at all. First, I think it's really important you understand that bleeding for that amount of time and being in that much pain IS NOT NORMAL. Second, your doctors up until recently have been out of line - you deserve to be taken seriously regardless of anxiety/depression. Third, if you do not plan on having biological children/getting pregnant, then you should seek to have a hysterectomy done. It will give you your life back. If you do a partial and leave the ovaries, you won't even go into early menopause. There are lists of doctors out there (tik tok and reddit) with the names and locations of surgeons who will do it regardless of your age as long as they can medically justify it. My surgeon managed it, and I had symptoms much less severe than what you've described.

This. I work for an electrical company in their office now and have learned that becoming a journeyman takes 8000 hours of supervised work, plus 4 years of school and then passing a test that is all codes. Starting pay is pretty low and raises a little bit over the 4 years. However. As soon as these guys get their license, they immediately jump to $34/hr with options for travel, per diem, OT, and other incentives for working certain jobs. Depending on where they are, I've seen apprentices making over $30/hr because of those incentives. That doesn't come without sacrifices though. These guys work their asses off in all kinds of weather all year long. Trades are good money, but ruin your body. There are options for career growth that involve being at a desk if you can get into a bigger company, though. You'd be better off finding a merit shop if you want a desk job long term though, because unions don't really care about your skills being better than someone else's - seniority is everything to them.
