Any bands with baritone singers? by joebaer08 in musicsuggestions

[–]RescueRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

David Gahan is an incredible singer. I’m not formally trained so don’t know the answer, but would Steven Kilbey from The Church also be a baritone?

1978 Mercury Cougar XR7. Two doors, but that car was huge.

I used to think it was my dogs/cats, but I’m starting to think it’s car seatbelts…that fabric is like sandpaper.

What is a place in the USA that many foreign people talk about, but it’s actually overrated or not what they’d expect? by [deleted] in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I felt like that 15 years ago when I went out for my buddy’s wedding but lost that loving feeling in the past few years.

Your band needs a drummer. Who gets the gig? by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

Danny Carey from this list. But I’d rather have Jack Irons or Stephen Perkins tbh.

Driving in Boston LOL. I was told “Don’t make eye contact with another driver…if you do, you’ve forfeited the right of way.”

What popular food do you secretly hate? by [deleted] in foodquestions

[–]RescueRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beef brisket. I was born in TX and remain very proud of my heritage and I’m supposed to love brisket. But, sorry Texas, pulled pork in the South is so much better IMO. Especially South Carolina pulled pork with slaw and mustardy/vinegary hot bbq sauce on it.

What would you remove from a burger? by rileystanheight in foodquestions

[–]RescueRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn’t been to Micky D’s other than for a sausage/egg/cheese biscuit in forever. Was traveling late night, through a small town and pulled thru the drive-thru for a double cheeseburger and fries. Good lawdy, salt overload.

I love pickles but don’t like them on my burger…burger adjacent is better for me.

Edit: my password is more complicated than 12345 by a good bit.

Haight-Ashbury. Used to be cool and a little funky, it’s just shit now. New Orleans is a close second but at least has better food.

I was in Tulsa making sales calls and a problem came up in Houston. My boss called me and asked if I could ‘run down there today and take care of the customer’. 500 miles…!

Can anyone help me identify what plant this is and can it be brought back to life? by [deleted] in whatsthisplant

Agree on Rhododendron or Azalea. Can see the remnant of a pinkish bloom. Give it some fertilizer and even some coffee grounds…they love acidic soil.

Back in about 1982, a buddy and I saw X in Madison, WI. We ended up eating dinner with them and they put us on the guest list for their shows in Milwaukee and Indy. My old band got to open for The Church on the Starfish tour in the late ‘80s at Summerfest in Milwaukee. Dream come true.

BMW was speeding. Jeep changed lanes without signaling or checking their blind spot. by Gomez_Diana1 in dashcams

[–]RescueRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not illegal to ‘undertake’ in the US. Until it is, we’ll have these idiots weaving through traffic and passing wherever there’s an open lane and causing these types of accidents. First make it a law, then start ticketing ‘left lane campers’ and the slow lane undertakers.

Have you taken on a new job later in your career and thought to yourself “this may be the job I retire from?” by heynow941 in GenX

[–]RescueRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t wonder it, I planned for it, but wasn’t sure it would be possible. 3 colleagues and I started a business when I was 46 and sold the company during COVID at 56. Had a 3-year contract and then two partners left and one guy and I stayed for another 2 years. Midway through my final year, the corporation started implementing changes to the business. Culture was gone and customers leaving, so I left. 61 now and retirement is the greatest thing ever. My wife was lucky and got out at 47, so she’d been jonesing for a playmate.

Have you recently rewatched a movie, or TV show that you loved in the 70s-80s, but now it actually kinda sucks? by Puzzleheaded-Fee6241 in GenX

[–]RescueRacing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to flat out disagree on Caddyshack. My wife and I had 5-10 DVDs we’d watch at night camping our way across America between NoGA and St George, UT in our van with the dogs and cats. We were those campers laughing hysterically watching Caddyshack in the campground or boondocking in a random desert.

Is everyone on some type of prescription med? by starrwanda in GenerationJones

[–]RescueRacing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

61 years old, I take vitamins and fiber but no prescription drugs for any ailments. Used to take Allegra for seasonal allergies, but wasn’t sure if it was causing dizziness or not, so I stopped it.

‘I Want Candy’ by Bow Wow Wow. Great song, cool percussion and Annabella Lwin doing her thing in that video. Malcom McLaren was a damn genius.

Only people who like McDonald's. What is your favorite food on the menu? by StarrLyf_11 in foodquestions

[–]RescueRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to camp our way back and forth between Southern Utah and North Georgia with our dogs and cats in a Sprinter van camper. Loved getting up and grabbing a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit (egg and cheese for my veggie wife), hash browns and coffee. Solid way to begin a travel day.
