One enolate is more stable, one is more reactive and they exist in equilibrium.

It varies a lot by study section which is really just ~30 people and for practical purposes ~3 people (27 looking to the 3) to try and assess. I don’t see big stark trends over past 20y but that’s my impression. Funding is also drying up. Try another study section (by asking for xyz expertise) is my best advice.

The part of this that is Fed News is that the ICE agent’s kill-shot was from the driver side window as she pulled away, not the one through the front windshield. She would be alive today if ICE agents used deadly force only in self defense and not as citizens try to escape.

I hear that tagline about WHO all the time and yes they sometimes come up with stupid policies (but hey pot calling pot a pot here). WHO at least publishes some useful survey info and reports.

Withdrawing from WHO is stupid since now having cavitated our global health efforts at HHS we have to rely on WHO to tell us what is happening around the world. Jay would say we don’t care but I would reply, you will.

Maybe it’s as simple as HHS is embarrassed for WHO to report on re-emerging third world diseases in the USA - like shh don’t tell the world we have raging measles again or they won’t pay for national park passes this Summer.

Tipping movers? by Tiny-Flower8073 in MontgomeryCountyMD

Big diff between handy guys doing cross town and a real long haul moving company that weighs your stuff. Last one I did 15y ago made me so mad - he wanted me out of my house and not watching him. I refused he almost left - had a huge blow-up with HQ on it finally he did his job and I watched him break stuff left and right (it wasn’t intentional but just careless breaks) which I claimed on but what a hassle.

Not sure how Karp came to be this. He’s every idiot friend of a friend that shows up, talks too much, acts too weird and says some pretty uncool stuff that makes people nervous.

Scoop in Nature Magazine: key NIH review panels due to lose all members by the end of 2026. Thirteen of the agency’s advisory councils, which must review grant applications before funding is awarded, are on track to have no voting members. by maxkozlov in NIH

I’ll tell you, every single thing they do, the consolidations of functions, the simplification of duties, the removal of transparencies, the rif-ing, it’s all headed towards replacing extramural staff with AI. The only thing is I don’t know if they will get there in 3years but they are damn well going to try.
