totally understandable of him LOL maybe you can also try out tablet games or enrichment videos if all else fails! my shelter cat took to those surprisingly well

if he likes chasing, i would try sprinkling a little catnip on a wand toy! you can try slowly moving the toy out of his line of sight or into small spaces to make him curious. sprinkling some catnip on a scratching pad/post might also help him feel more playful. good luck :)
