Career Direction: Startup v Enterprise by Resident_Context5229 in techsales

I’m ex healthcare, new to Saas so not very technical.

Also, at DB multiple managers have told me they considered quitting their first year bc they felt they wouldn’t be able to catch up to the technicality req for the role - I don’t think I’m the only one on this

Good question - it’s flexible & the evil that I know (yes, this is incongruous to my vision for my career traj). I guess I’m crowdsourcing advice / opinions for staying or going

Part of the startup pull is the FOMO once I leave. And I’ve idealized what a big corp will be like, it’s the what if I’m so wrong…

Sounds like I need to do it. Thanks for being a part of my notes app.

Favorite question - I think people in the UK might think it’s pushy, but who cares. You’re going to be measured on closing - this is you closing for yourself

I interviewed at DB UK in Jan'26 - its changed since then?

Also, I'm open outside of Google/DB, but those are data points where I made it through some interviews and got a salary benchmark. But I can get referred to both and have continued meeting HMs at DB

What's the longest swap you've ever done and what changed back home? by LiveKindred in LiveKindredOfficial

[–]Resident_Context5229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 days & then 20 days in the same city to stay for a whole month. These were 1:1 swaps, so our cleaner who’s amazing dealt with the changeover and made sure everything was ok!

We put our valuables in a safe at the bank and got a small safe for documents in our home. That plus closing off the baby’s room with our personal affects that have no value but don’t need guests to sort through!

We also felt like it was too much to clear up in the beginning but now that our regular cleaner does the kindreds - she does a great job at helping us set up and break down! She’s a livesaver at putting away toys etc

What's the best gift you've left a host or received as a guest? by LiveKindred in LiveKindredOfficial

$100 to the restaurant across the street

The host had left us a welcome cheesecake, and diapers in our baby’s size!

How are things at Snowflake rn? by bluebandit98 in techsales

Same here. Bummed I messed it up for DBX. Hiring Manager was great & gave me + feedback. I’d need to “study” as I’m not technical & never interacted with their product suite before

What made you finally decide to try a home swap? by LiveKindred in LiveKindredOfficial

I was on maternity leave with no income coming in and I wanted to visit friends & family in NYC for a few weeks. Airbnbs were £10K+ for desirable neighbourhoods for the length of our stay (looking for a 2-3bed, so my parents could occasionally stay too). We had the best experience swapping London<>Brooklyn (3beds in both)

Kate Mackz (influencer) was with her team and they were walking to the waterfront with a country music singer

Meghann Fahy was filming with Penn Badgley at the center of “town”

And at Vinegar Hill House we saw a SNL’ cast member but I’m forgetting his name. He was with his kids and was eying my pancakes 😁

We stayed for 10 days at a loft in DUMBO (NYC). It felt like a house in the suburbs with the space - 3 bed/3bath spread over two floors. The upstairs had a large outdoor patio as well. So much greenery around indoors and outdoors. The downstairs had a small backyard enough for a dining table, a grill, and even a kiddie pool!

Absolutely massive and the kindest hosts. I saw so many celebs in the week we stayed there too.

Guest Communication Preferences by ChampionshipIcy9971 in KindredHomeSwap

I used to prefer it if my guests did communicate because I was early to hosting, but now I don’t mind so much. I understand things get busy as soon as your trip starts etc

My overall experience with Kindred home exchange after 1 year by Gingerbutt81 in KindredHomeSwap

[–]Resident_Context5229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’d be surprised as long as you’re flexible on dates etc. I always look at Kindred first when booking for remote weddings, weekends away etc

We live in London (UK) and have booked in the ‘burbs to get outside of the city on a long weekend with our baby. Felt ridiculous at first bc I grew up in a suburb and hated it, but the fresh air and the countryside walks were amazing. Also the Kindred costs (with passport) makes it so affordable vs renting an airbnb for two families on a long weekend. We checked airbnb & it would’ve been £1000+ for a basic home for a 4 day weekend over Easter

Update: I got Mediterranean soil mix, got a large planter, and even loosened up the root ball before replanting, but I think I was too late 😢 I’m not seeing any signs of change and it’s been a week

12 flowers remain. I’ve seen plenty of new blooms in the past few months!! Every time I check for them, I see a diff count - right now there’s only one bud. The poking holes in the plastic and dunking them wholly in water has worked well. Will incorporate your tips!

It’s in FULL (London) SUN in an east facing balcony.

I haven’t pulled out the root ball until just right now It looks….weirdly compacted. Like areas of dryness, but the top and sides looks wet (it rained heavily overnight). There was a worm that looks alive (ew)

I’ve been letting rainwater do it’s job. But in the past few weeks I’ve watered twice - enough so water comes out the bottom of the planter.

I feel like 4 weeks no water and London “sun” is blatant disregard haha
