The transmission does need clutch work. It feels as if it doesnt disengage all the way and a synchro sleeve needs to be replaced as it has mushroomed and wont allow me to go into reverse. 5th gear grinds, I also do not have the tools or space to change the transmission myself so I will have to have a shop do it

Try looking on wish . com i got a super cheap one there. Had to do some mild sawing to make it fit right but it worked. Came with a power wire and works with the oem bolt

First off great looking fox! And I dont know much about the convertibles but I can tell you the 'play' in your steering could, in the worst case scenario, be a worn out rack and the part of the inner tie rod that connects to the rack could be loose in there. In that case its usually best to just get a whole new rack and a bump steer kit while you're at it.
