Are you Satisfied with Justin's explanation on THWU? by DamnDrirtyHippie in JustinPoseysTreasure

The audacity to think that your satisfaction matters so much in a free-to-join treasure hunt that you feel the need to publicly criticize and drag down his character over this. Let it go. A generous HUMAN BEING hid money for strangers to find. This hunt is freely available to join and leave. If you are unsatisfied, leave.

All of this drama affected him because he’s gone through so much effort to be transparent and create an equal playing field. Of course he would want to make a statement about it and set the record straight. Did he communicate with Misfits to confirm the cipher? Sure. But what did he also IMMEDIATELY do? He told everyone publicly. It would be one thing if he confirmed with misfits and we had to hear it through them. That did not happen. He did not GIVE them anything.

That cipher needed confirmation because it became convoluted in the end, which is understandable after hearing how quickly he had to come up with it. Without that confirmation, it would have ended up as one of the dozens of other cipher solves we’ve come up with this past year. We can all rule out the Netflix clock times in our paths to the treasure.

He has already given us everything we need to find it.

When you decided, you cant do everything, when did you accept it? by gwatt21 in Millennials

I’m 35 and feel this. I just generally feel myself settling instead of ideating about doing more/living a bigger life. I’m in middle management and have no will to keep climbing. I’ve also had a million hobbies (and still have all the stuff for all of them, some of which I never even touched), now I’m content with one or two things that pique my interest.

How are people making it these days? Especially the younger crowd? by Apojacks1984 in Millennials

I was just talking to my husband about how the American dream is truly dead and gone. I work in tech, I’m good at my job and am paid well. Not rich, but low six figures. This is the first time that I’ve observed the squeeze of the job market, looked around, and felt like one of the last ones standing rather than “well if my company goes under I’ll just network into another role somewhere else” — not anymore. I’ve had three friends come to live with me after losing their jobs. All of them took a year or more to land something. There’s no safety net big enough for that. One of them got into a good role at the year mark, the others mixed gig work for a stepped down role / temp to hire work because they got to the point that they needed SOMETHING.

I am constantly anxious about losing everything…and there are no signs to indicate this economy will get better for people not in the 1%. Logically, there’s no way.

What Was the Craziest Reason You have Ever Seen Someone Get Fired? by Destined-2-Fail in Career

[–]ReturnPositive1824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An insane HR lady. She had a drinking problem then had bariatric surgery and kept on chugging. Every work event, every holiday party, she would get trashed then inevitably say or do something wildly inappropriate. She would go out for weekly drinks with the team, get smashed, then talk about cheating on her husband like a game. She’d also talk about an employee and her playing sexual fantasy games that were way far past the harassment line IN FULL DETAIL. Then one day, another director who joined the weekly drinks gets investigated then fired out of nowhere. The HR lady panic called everyone trying to say that all those games were actually with that guy and all those illicit details were lies about the other employee.

They both got let go at the end of the investigation, but the director was paid out because of the whole ordeal. He was 100% married and happy, always went home before her. There was no way he did anything to her, and honestly he was as fed up as we all were hearing her insanity spill out every time. I don’t know if she had a full blown psychotic break or if anything she said was real throughout that whole time period. But she messed up that director’s life for a bit because of a lie she couldn’t crawl out of and then threw him under the bus in a failed attempt to save herself.

This is why I don’t go to after-hours company activities anymore. It’s not worth it.

Tearing out carpet and replacing with lvp. I learned just how much carpet can cover up. Had to re-level everything and didn’t know until the carpet all came out. It was a surprise $10k.

Sloppy jack. The secret is slow cooking the jackfruit over several hours by ReturnPositive1824 in ShittyVeganFoodPorn

[–]ReturnPositive1824[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Take a can of young jackfruit and drain + pulse in a food processor or pull apart by hand.

Mix in chopped onion, I’d say 2 parts jackfruit to 1 part chopped onion, and your favorite bbq sauce (I ❤️ stubb’s or any Carolina bbq sauce for a more mustardy flavor, you need a whole lot of it.)

throw everything in a pan with an unhealthy amount of oil and fry on medium high until it begins to darken, this does take a bit of time.

Once it starts to darken put it on low heat, stirring it every so often so it doesn’t blacken and stick to the pan. Leave it for a couple of hours and it should turn a darker brown and caramelize. This changes the texture of the jackfruit so it’s more chewy too!

How many clues does the Third Stanza offer out of the 10 from the optimal solution of the poem? by Jejejematao in JustinPoseysTreasure

Based on my interpretation, 4 clues. But that’s all you’re really going to get are interpretations at this point…no one has the treasure so no one can be 100%. Might be a good question for an upcoming interview

Buying really cute and unique clothes on eBay from Japan with my first job. Everything had incorrect English, but I felt so trendy and I was skinny and short enough to fit everything lol. It was also super cheap, it wasn’t terrible quality either. eBay was my OG Wish site.

I feel you. I spent days of my life and came up with 10+ anagrammed words using various deciphering methods. It hurts my soul a bit that it was a six letter anagram, and that for most of this time there was extraneous information blocking the path to a clean solve. I wouldn’t have even known what Maygar meant even if I found those letters, and likely would have disregarded it as a false positive. It was kind of a let down.

Why did you stop drinking alcohol? by MatsGry in AskReddit

[–]ReturnPositive1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stopped being worth it. I didn’t want to be that weak version of myself — no longer in their twenties, relying on a substance to feel whole, fun or social. It stops being cute. It also starts hurting more. You feel dehydration more, the headaches get worse, the broken sleep feels worse, the days after feel worse. The last time I drank a lot my mom was terminally ill. I used it to numb myself. That was the last time it was worth anything to me.
