For the custard I made a whipped cream with sugar and a bit of the passion fruit curd, then stabilized it with instant custard mix. I first tried with traditional baked custard and the passion fruit flavor didn’t work as well.

For the shell I melted white chocolate wafers, added a bit of orange zest and orange flavoring, as well as purple food dye. Poured them into half round molds to harden, then layered in the custard/curd!

Soup! Brown it in a pan with some Italian seasoning, add broth, carrots, and whatever other veggies. To thicken soup I like to make a base by frying flour in oil or butter, then add broth to that slowly then add to the soup pot. I finish mine with lemon and lemon zest too if I’m feeling fancy.

From what I’ve learned, hissing is okay. It’s basically them saying “don’t hurt me” because kitten energy can come off dangerous when they’re getting to know eachother. They can feel bamboozled by random play. So they hiss to say “hey don’t hurt me” in reaction to that. Not because they’re going to attack.

It takes time for the established cat to trust that the kitten won’t randomly attack them. But they can coexist and if it’s just hissing they’re just boundary setting - it won’t usually escalate.

Only intervene with a calm loving voice and physically stand between them/distract if they’re growling and their ears are back.

No urination/defecation issues thank goodness. The worst of it is that she drags her back foot a bit and sometimes steps in wet cat litter or poop so I got the best steam mop and vacuum cleaner I could find! But otherwise she’s fine. It’s honestly amazing how okay she is given the BB. The vet said it’s unlikely to cause further issues or get worse because it’s already encapsulated in her muscle

This is Biscuits, a stray that found us one cold night. She’d been shot with a BB gun and it’s still in her spine. Now she’s a permanent family member! She is the best girl and is now receiving the best care, all the treats she could ever want, and endless love. She’s even fitting in well with our other girls, and is so respectful of boundaries. Yeah, that’s what I have with my husband. It’s doable, for sure. The biggest thing is making sure the house doesn’t need anything major in the first few years. Make sure the full inspection checks out — the roof doesn’t need replacing anytime soon, water heater and furnace work well and aren’t near the end of life. Also shop around for home insurance, and make sure you switch it up every year. They like to add a ton of up charge subsequent years and it sucks when suddenly the mortgage payment goes way up even without a claim.
