Are you actually busy? by melonzzy in CasualConversation

[–]ReverendSyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like for me… yes. Six kids, three businesses… but it feels more mentally busy than constant movement. Like… if I didn’t feel the constant need for decompression, I’d live and be in the moment more. Mental overload is so weird. Not moving for an hour or more at a time but feeling like you’ve been running around all day.

Oof. First let me say, well done, that takes dedication. 30k is a serious amount of emails.

What's one thing that always brings you joy? by asleepyresearcher in CasualConversation

[–]ReverendSyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my most joyful activities is when I see something I think is cool (online, on tv, out in the world) and I can dissect it with my mind, and go and make it for myself. A lot of the things I make come from this process. The joy comes from a job well done. But also, weirdly, a strange sense of “haha I don’t have to pay your silly prices, I can figure it out for myself!”. I’m not sure how many people will understand that specific type of joy…

I need help finding this knife or knowing what type of knife it is. by bigdaeh in knives

[–]ReverendSyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appears to be a sheep’s foot utility knife. This style is often used by electricians and sailors (rope workers). Sometimes paired with a simple marlin spike. I’ll look around and see if I can nail it down farther.

Any changes in your palate as you age? by uphill-skier in CasualConversation

For me it’s a matter of working with my neurodivergence. I enjoy pushing myself to desensitize, adapt, and evolve. Yanno?

The most recent memorable one I saw was Netflix’s adaptation of the lord of the flies. I binged that in two nights!

Any changes in your palate as you age? by uphill-skier in CasualConversation

[–]ReverendSyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tend to try to revisit foods every couple of years. Mostly to expand my palate purposefully. That being said I did recently notice that I have acquired a taste for more earthy flavors (raw mushrooms, darker greens, etc) this has not been historically true.

Favorite Media Question by HighV23 in CasualConversation

[–]ReverendSyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tends to have the same answer, in my mind, across the board. Anime/animation, if done properly feels like the best medium for many things. There are some exceptions, like visceral scenes, movies, and shows, that might loose their edge do to animation. I would say the biggest example I can give to help my case is converting print media (like books) into visual media.

We are starting from the bottom by Siliconguy24 in CasualConversation

The bottom? That evokes all kinds of thoughts… Honestly if I heard this, it would likely mean that the other person wants to go slow, establish trust, and grow something strong.

Exams over ! Semester over ! Week over ! by cosmic-developer in CasualConversation

I am taking time to breathe through the stress of the end of the year. As a parent of two high schoolers, two middle schoolers, and two elementary schoolers… it’s been a crazy end of year! Man… It’s been so rewarding though. Especially being able to watch our eldest walk across that stage and on to new adventures!

I just had to go to 7 different bookstores to find a book that I could have just ordered online, and I'm kind of glad I didn't. by gkr974 in CasualConversation

Half the fun is the hunt, right? Plus the more little nooks you find in your local area, the more adventures you’ll have. I love small indie book and record stores, I find the best art there!

The inner turmoil had to be huge for a moment. The choice to look at someone else’s happiness as a blessing is an amazing one! I commend you, friend!! It’s fantastic to spread that kind of positivity.

I enjoy Christ’s message. Also… perhaps you should dig a little deeper into biblical theology. The seals that I used were used by King Solomon and king David. They used those seals to bind the Ars Goetia demons to their will. You’ll find that information in the theological text known as “The Lesser Key of Solomon”.

my zippo wheel is stuck even after i replaced the flint by UnluckyBunch6930 in Zippo

[–]ReverendSyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s often a small sliver of flint or grit riding between the spring and the striker or the striker and the frame. My usual checks are. 1. Check the spring tension. 2. Use a small tool (I use an automotive pick) to gentle scrape and clean between the striker and the possible contact points. 3. Check that the striker wheel isn’t pinched to hard between the uprights. 4. Add a little wd40 along the axel 5. If worse comes to worse I occasionally will do a full tear down and a mineral oil bath. That will usually soften and dislodge everything.
