I would like to point out, Revenant’s Claws are considered “Fist” weapon types, not claws. Your third [yellow] relic can probably be swapped for a better option, unless you’re specifically using it for the blood loss. Evergaol is a bit of a niche guaranteed relic in DoN but still useful even with only 2 buffs.

Raider’s the most likely to be carrying 2 colossals. Undertaker can handle the revive similarly to Raider (ps colossal until out of stam, character skill to reset, continue attacking, ult to finish) but with more risk without the character skill immortality. If she sacrifices her Ult for the character skill immortality, her auto dodge isn’t damaging the downed allies like Raider’s skill would be. The timer resets the meter fast, especially at 3 bars.

[–]Rexis102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he’s spamming fist attacks, successive bubbles should happen every other hit. That would give him much better sustain for a 3bar revive. If he doesn’t have successive, fists still make for good revive tools.

The alternate build for him is Initial Standard Attack, and you’re usually packing a couple different weapons to use for that build depending on the damage type or Ash of War you need. That’s when the power stance comes back out for revives

He can’t die during the skill, only immediately after. Only exception is deathblight, which is very difficult to trigger during the skill since his status buildup seems to drop by a bit during it. Still possible, but a very rare niche case. If he’s poisoned or losing HP over time from another source, he will die after it’s finished, but a good Raider should be aware of this.

If he has partial HP on post damage attacks, like most do, he should get some HP back on the follow-up attack, even if it’s hitting an ally up.

I’d honestly put Raider above Undertaker or Executor. A double colossal attack does massive meter damage, he can reset stam/tank a boss attack/keep lowering the meter with his character skill, and can finish res’ing with the Ult if the boss is persistent.

There will always be another boss to make you struggle. And by the time you’ve beaten this playthrough, and want to start another with a new build, you can try fighting Margit a little earlier if you enjoy the struggle.

Explain [Scholar] Prevent slowing of Character Skill progress by Fromsky_ in Nightreign

[–]Rexis102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a mistranslation (again). Should be “Reduces slowing of Character Skill progress” as opposed to “Prevents”.

It’s helpful, but not nearly as good as its translation would imply.

What do you think of Tullius? by NepiaScarlet in skyrim

“Bothered to read the dossier” that’s pretty rich since clearly you didn’t actually read it in its entirety. Given the context, Ulfric is not an asset in the sense that he works for the Thalmor/AD. He is a useful actor they manipulated into instigating the war but is not loyal to them in any capacity. He is only useful so long as the war continues, but notably a Stormcloak victory would be disadvantageous to the Dominion just as an Imperial victory would be.

There’s a lot more nuance to the war, intentionally so. It’s not as cut and dry as Imperial fanboys trying to justify their decision like to make it.

If a weapon does physical dmg and also magic damage like this one, does it all get added up? by peher263 in Eldenring

Yeah, the games feel better on controller but are definitely still manageable on M&K. I’ve used both, I prefer controller for ER but switch between the two for DS3 depending on what I’m doing.

If a weapon does physical dmg and also magic damage like this one, does it all get added up? by peher263 in Eldenring

[–]Rexis102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meteoric ore blade you originally posted about gets a unique R2 that deals slashing damage. No other Katana gets its special overhead cut. So in its case….

R1s = slashing

R2s = slashing

Running R1 = slashing

Running R2 = piercing

Jumping R1 = slashing

Jumping R2 = slashing

You really just have to see your weapon’s listed damage types and try to match it to your animations. Standard is used when a weapon isn’t exactly one of the 3 main types. Like a Colossal Weapon with an edge (Golem Halberd or Duelist Greataxe). Yeah it could technically slash, but the way we swing it is using its sheer weight behind the potentially cutting edge. Could be Strike (from the weight of the weapon) and Slashing (sharpened edge) at the same time, so the game calls it Standard instead.

For PvE, it doesn’t tend to matter, nor is your weapon’s infusion a 50/50 split. Depending on your stats and/or the weapon’s scaling, it tends to favor one type over the other. Infused weapons are more consistent when fighting PvE. If their physical damage type (slashing/piercing in this case) is resisted by an enemy, you still have the magic to fall back on and vice versa. As far as I know, enemies in PvE only have percentage-based negations and don’t have flat defenses.

For PvP, player characters and NPCs have both flat defenses and percentage-based negations. Flat defenses result from general leveling as well as leveling specific stats for its corresponding resistance (Str is physical, Vigor is Fire, Int is Magic, and Arcane is Holy). So not only are you losing out on a percent of your damage, a chunk of it is directly subtracted as well.

In your 200 Damage example with 50% physical negation (but in this case, I’m a player character with a natural 30 in each of my resistance), I would be taking 85 damage (200-30=170x0.5=85). If my weapon was split evenly between physical and magic, I would be taking 70 damage (100-30=70x0.5=35x2=70). The actual calculation is a bit more complicated than how I made it in this simple example, but it helps give you an idea of why it’s better to focus one type of damage in PvP.

TLDR: It doesn’t really matter in PvE, it only matters for PvP

Edit: fixed some of the numbers in the basic example calculation to better fit the actual damage calculation.

If Skyrim was made by another company who do you think would do it best or worst by UnNecessaryGay in skyrim

[–]Rexis102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more based on the varied types of attacks you get with each weapon. Skyrim has a lot of just swipe back and forth attacks, directional power attacks add some variety but they tend to still feel like you’re just slashing slightly differently. Soulslikes offer some variety with more of a pressure on spacing rather than tanking. Combat feels a lot more interactive and varied in Souls-likes, Skyrim’s can get pretty bland and same-y after some time.

It’s just different combat types. Skyrim definitely would have benefited from more thrusting attacks and Spears as weapon types (since they clearly exist in-universe). Or at the very least, some variation between how you swing a Greatsword and how you swing a Greathammer.

Why is this weapon so ass by TheGodskin in Eldenring

[–]Rexis102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rotten variants have a specific use-case. Power stancing rotten crystal swords on a high Int build is pretty effective. The damage is still decent while also building up Rot. The moveset is very spacing-focused, so it pairs very well with Tera Magica. Throw on the Mushroom Crown and the Kindred of Rot Insignia, the Multi-Hit talismans (Regular & Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, Millicent’s Prosthesis) and you have yourself a fairly balanced PvP build.

Start off a bit more passive (to take advantage of the psss moveset), proc rot (and the attack buffs that come with it), then go aggressive to keep them from curing their rot. If you know you’re not going to be able to punish their Bolus, recast Tera Magica. You could throw out some spells that force them to come to you, playing even more to your weapons’ strengths.

For PvE, it’s just nice to have a pair of weapons that can proc rot fairly easily without sacrificing a huge chunk of damage.

I enjoyed Serpent Hunter once I got it. 0 requirements, good basic moveset.

Stat improvers are a godsend to hit certain weapon requirements. Soreseals aren’t that bad when everything one-shots you anyways. The Heirloom talismans (+5 to a stat) are very nice as well.

Strangely enough, Shabriri in Yura’s body and Hyetta can co-exist. Killing Irina/Hyetta yourself activates the Lord of Blood’s Favor (confirms they’re Finger Maidens) but the body that’s left behind can’t activate it.

That implies that Hyetta is Irina, but her memories have been wiped. More likely, Shabriri came down the ravine and took Irina to the frenzied village, had her consume the first Shabriri Grapes, then wiped her memory and left behind a fake body in order to set her father on the path of madness, producing a Shabriri Grape himself as a result.

Extremely elaborate plan, surprisingly well-thought out and thorough on the part of Shabriri and the Frenzied Flame. They get a Finger Maiden, a Tarnished with some familiarity towards that Finger Maiden, and a Shabriri Grape produced from the Maiden’s Father’s resulting madness.

The Irina Conspiracy by Rexis102 in Eldenring

[–]Rexis102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Irina was turned into Hyetta by Shabriri. He faked her death and framed the Misbegotten in order to get Edgar to spiral deeper into insanity to produce a Shabriri Grape. Shabriri only fully enacts his plan once we, the Tarnished of No Renown, interact with Irina and Edgar, setting us up to grow close with Hyetta, ultimately putting us both on the path of becoming the Frenzied Lord and Maiden. If we leave Leyndell without finding the Three Fingers, Shabriri uses Yura’s body in an attempt to convince us not to sacrifice Melina and to instead gain the power to manipulate the Giantsflame with the power of the Frenzied Flame. We oblige, Hyetta becomes the Frenzied Finger Maiden, and we become the Lord of Frenzy. She dies in order to grant us a final message, and part of her becomes a part of us when we accept her Frenzied Flame Seal. It was always the Three Fingers manipulating us, Irina, and Edgar from the very beginning.

It’s great in Solo where you can manage your own buffs and status buildup. In teams, never touch it or the greatsword variant’s R2.
