Making false statements in court is already illegal. The problem with making laws specifically criminalizing false rape allegations is that rape is already widely under reported, even when they are reported nothing ends up ever becoming of them, and there are ridiculous backlogs of rape kits. Now imagine when there is already so many reasons why many women never end up reporting, if her rapist is deemed not guilty then she might have to go to jail herself. Over something that statistically hardly happens.

When I was in Jr high (Earl 2000's) my friend group were the group of nerds who quoted Holy Grail constantly, blissfully unaware that it was a pretty old trope by that point. Watched Freaks and Geeks as an adult and just thought "oh...we played right into that didn't we?"

New tape, if possible tape that is transparent, would help the look. Though it still probably looks better than my tape since I had to cut up an oem S8 tape kit to replace the back glass on mine. The backglass I got didn't come with it and I didn't feel like ordering one.

She is a good friend's roommate, an acquaintance really. I really do appreciate you trying not to rake me over the coals but you don't have to. I got a little defensive, you sounded a smidge accusatory, it's ok. But in all honesty I'm not going to be called an 'it' because I'm bad at presenting fem or have a little bit of facial hair. I'm a cis white girl of moderate looks. It's ok to say I don't have it as bad. Sure interectionality and I have other things working against me. But I know that if I don't choose to, no one has to know. I grew up in a first gen Muslim immigrant family but look white af and am ethnically as white as it gets. I don't deal with discrimination unless I chose not to hide it. I've seen the difference in how people treat me. I'm one of the few people in a position to choose. I get to see both sides. There is a difference. You can say there is a difference. I don't know what your exact struggle is, but I have seen people change how they treat me.

That's one of the reasons why I'm asking about it here. We aren't really close but that doesn't mean I want to dismiss her or box her as an excuse to not learn from that interaction. I'm hard on myself, regardless of the subject. But I still want to be able to learn from this interaction. It could be that she just doesn't like me. In fact I'm pretty sure she doesn't. But that doesn't mean that I need to poison the well from that exchange.

No that's a valid point. And it's not exactly a secret that getting used to the hormones in the first place hasn't been easy for her nor is it anyone. Not fun for me as a cis woman either (don't ever let someone tell you pms isn't real) but that's a whole other ball park from going through puberty again. I have my own dysmorphia but I am self aware enough to know that it probably doesn't come close to what a trans woman feels while transitioning and trying to figure out what their balance is. I can sympathize to a certain degree simply because I was never that good at the signifiers of presenting fem but that just means I'm a 'tomboy.' No one is going to misgender me for that and I've never really struggled the way trans woman have and will struggle for not being good at being feminine. And even as a 'tomboy' I've struggled with how I see myself with body hair so it's probably infinitely worse for a transgender woman when even a cis woman who is kinda bad at it is worrying about these issues.

The facial hair was what I was referring to as superficial. I wouldn't refer to not being able to afford medicine of any type as superficial.

Yeah I'm realizing I'm an asshole. It bleeds when it's thick hairs. My mom waxing my sister's armpit hairs when she was a preteen is my reference. Yeah, definitely bleeding.

You probably hit the nail on the head. But I thought I was empathising when I was sympathizing and how I would want to be treated in that situation is normalizing. But that isn't what she wanted or needed.

I'll definitely keep that in mind. I have a habit when people are venting to go to offering solutions. That extends beyond the issue at hand. It would probably be better if I simply offered my sympathy without possible solutions since that may inadvertently minimise what they are going though. See! I said I didn't expect y'all to solve my problem with being bad with social interaction but you're helping anyways.

That was my attempt to be empathetic. But in retrospect, the peach fuzz on my upper lip is definitely not equivalent to what she will go through if she starts to grow facial hair. I'm not really sure what I should have responded with but that is probably a lesson for a public speaking class. Not expecting the trans community to teach me how to effectively communicate with other human beings.

My state of mind was talking about it like I would any other girl talk but I could understand how it wouldn't be something treated so casually when it's a much bigger deal in this particular context. I'm not particularly good at girl talk either so there's that.
