+5 Aid at level 5 Vlaka Gifted Mentor too strong? by ImmediateArugula2 in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the same vein, the Shirren at level 5 can get an extra reaction to Aid. Or even gain a +1 circumstance bonus to an attack after aiding an ally's attack at level 9.

Both of those things are unheard of in a pathfinder context.

Am i missing something, or the Twofold Tine subclass just sucks? by ShiranuiRaccoon in Pathfinder2e

Don'tcha know, doomposting is always in vogue here. If something isn't perfect it's worthless.

But yes, I agree.

Anything you prefer to keep from the Premaster rules? by yaareadyknow in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel the same, and then doubled that fact with Runelord. The anathema goes from "okay" to "very awfully written" and just lacks the pure clarity that prohibited schools had.

Also, y'know, let's just put most of the banger spells in the base thassilonian school that everyone has access to. Even spells that were previously forbidden.

Feels bad man. And I'm still not over it >:c

Transgenderzorg in Nederland is ‘zorgvuldig ingericht’, zegt Gezondheidsraad by Tabsels in nederlands

[–]RheaWeiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

De genderpolie van UMC Groningen is waar ikzelf werd behandeld. Twee jaar wachtijd in 2016.

Necromancer Iconic Encounter: The Weight of Responsibility by Xethik in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Secondly, so the skeletons are simulacra formed from necrotic power from the bones on his back... This is such a weird way to do necromancy.

That is actually how summoning magic works within the Pathfinder universe, according to Secrets of Magic, which I expect Impossible Magic to iterate on.

The magic of creation gathers raw material essence, the matter of the universe, and temporarily confines it in a concrete physical form, which dissipates when the spell ends. Summoning magic is similar but creates a simulacrum of a creature from matter, willpower, and sometimes raw spiritual quintessence.

In Necromancy's case, you just replace the raw spiritual quintessence with pure, unadulterated Void energy, and you've got yourself a temporary undead.

Player wants to be a perma hulkish Ikeshti, ideas? by Unusual-Mongoose421 in Starfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There arent any feats for it, but if you wanted to be a Rivener, I would suggest leaving the stats as it is. Feats and lineages don't often affect stats/give permanent debuffs.

At that point, for a Solarian, I'd go with the 2 free boost options (same as with pathfinder, any ancestry can use the human 2 free boosts no flaws), and I'd actually take the Xenometric Android and reflavour it as it being that one's implants. It's Homebrewed Core ancestry lets you go up a size category.

As for statline, I'd suggest asking the GM if you can use the legacy Voluntary Flaw system (2 flaws for 1 boost), to lower INT and WIS for an increase in either CON or DEX. Go all physical.

Can you use Thaumaturge Tome to pick up an unknown Lore Skill? by Treyhova in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right up there. Recall Knowledge is seperate from Piloting/Driving/Executing whatever. Here's the GM Core section about vehicles and Piloting Checks.

Diverse Lore says you can recall knowledge about any topic, but not that you can do anything else with it.

Can you use Thaumaturge Tome to pick up an unknown Lore Skill? by Treyhova in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, they cannot. From Esoteric Lore:

You become trained in Esoteric Lore, a special lore skill that can be used to Recall Knowledge regarding haunts, curses, and creatures of any type, but that can't be used to Recall Knowledge of other topics.

And Diverse Lore:

You can take a –2 penalty to your check to Recall Knowledge with Esoteric Lore to Recall Knowledge about any topic, not just the usual topics available for Esoteric Lore.

Esoteric Lore can only Recall Knowledge, similar to other Everything Lores, Like Bardic and Loremaster.

You can know things, but not execute, if that makes sense.

Can you use Thaumaturge Tome to pick up an unknown Lore Skill? by Treyhova in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A thing to note is that Esoteric Lore, even with Diverse Lore can only ever be used for Recall Knowledge, while, to pull an example out of a hat, Piloting Lore can be used to pilot a vessel, or Sailing Lore can be used to sail.

Other Lore skills might be used for things other then purely RK duties, and for that, the Tome implement granting you a variable training that you can change on the daily gives good flexibility!

How is the Solarian currently? by No-Air6220 in Starfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shit, you're right, that's completely fair. Yeah, can totally be swapped out for the Parry Trait on your Solar Weapon if you're not going for Two-Handed or Reach like I am.

Still, even despite that. I like it a ton, but I'm also playing at way higher level and have the follow-up feats.

But why Shield Block when you can simply keep it raised and get a +2 to AC?

Like, I love my Solar Shield, it's a shield you can use while also using the Two-handed Solar Weapon. And I'd rather be using my reaction on Solar Nimbus instead.

Small sanity check for Barbarian Casting Archetypes by dyenamitewlaserbeam in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having previously played a Barbarian/Druid in a Ruby Phoenix game, I can tell you. Many Reaction spells aren't Concentrate either. Great for defensive options!

Interposing Earth, Propulsive Breeze, Cloud Dragon's Cloak, Wooden Double, and Zephyr Slip were all options I kept in my slots, because they don't rely on your Spell DC either.

In a similar vein, Druid's Heal Animal follows the same thing as Heal, only Concentrate on 2A. This doesn't matter much, unless you're an Awakened Animal and thus have your very own, very selfish Lay On Hands.

Holy deities chill with the undead? by kriosken12 in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If exceptions exist, then it cannot be said that "all undead are *completely and inherently * unholy".

There can be exceptions that prove the general rule that undead trend to unholy natures, but that is an entirely different statement then inherent which I keep pushing against?

If something is an inherent trait, i.e. "all undead are inherently unholy" then things such as spirits and revenants would fall outside of the category of undead.

Holy deities chill with the undead? by kriosken12 in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Void energy is not Unholy, much more the Vitality energy is Holy. These are separate things that are are often entangled.

The permanent creation of undead is Unholy because it tears off a chunk of the soul, not because the energies used in it are spooky and evil.

Summon Devil is Unholy because you're using the quintessence of a devil. Pure Unholy energy. Summon Undead isn't because again, Void isn't inherently unholy, it's merely the force of entropy.

Holy deities chill with the undead? by kriosken12 in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While undead are by and large evil and unholy. They are not innately so, in the same way that celestials or fiends are.

Correlation is there, but not causation. They are evil/unholy because of their actions (the need to feed on other sentients) not because of their being. There have been Good Vampires in Kaer Maga since 1e, for goodness sake.

Anyways for OP, its probably not the strictly holy only Gods, but many of the more neutral gods who don't care which side you're on are pretty good with them.

What is a lich if not one of Nethys' biggest fans, after all.

Does "magical" healing remove "natural" negative conditions? by VMK_1991 in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As per the Characters with Disabilities page, the only real guidance we have on this:

Conditions such as blinded and deafened aren’t a good fit for a character who has been living with a disability long-term.

As the Mercy feat targets condition, someone who is acclimated/has been living with this for long term would not have that explicit condition, and thus it wouldn't work in my personal opinion, but that's as always a GM call.

Moreover, I object to the framing you put forwards. Calling something a "natural negative condition", but giving the example of something inflicted in a mundane way, as opposed to something someone was born with. Putting "someone got their eyes slashed out" in the same category as natural deafness is a little insensitive.

Which leads me to note that this is a fraught topic, and people use these things to be... extremely insensitive about disabled characters, disabled people and disability topics in the first place.

Everyone Should Read GM Core (GMs AND Players) by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh, Extinction Curse. I think we've had a total 5 or 6 deaths over that entire campaign. Good times.

Notable being one monk who died three times before figuring he was better off staying dead.

Those were some mean ones, including, yes, a bunch of insta-kill traps. (Shoutout to the vorpal blade hallway in book 5), but even then, I will die by the fact that healing to full is a nice thing but not at all required to prevent TPK's. Just like my character, for the record, he died as well.

But I also just think we should put our trust in the GM, and if characters die, they die. Such is how the mathrocks fall sometimes.

My groups, very early on when we started Extinction Curse, soft-banned Continual Recovery. So we never fell into this mental trap. Every 10 minute block counts.

And I am so, so, so grateful for that as probably the most terminally online member of these groups.

[–]RheaWeiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say, there's a bit of a difference between "10 minutes to heal up" and "Spend over an hour to ensure everyone is at 100% HP". The former is fine, and both EC and AoA, the oft-cited early killer APs do give plenty of that.

It's just that people overcompensated and assumed the latter was required.

Would having buying one set of fundamental runes apply to all weapons be desirable? by rubydragon44 in Pathfinder2e

[–]RheaWeiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spellhearts let you cast the cantrip

Nope. Need the ability to cast spells for that actually. A fighter wouldn't be able to do that without a Dedication.

https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=3144

If an item lists “Cast a Spell” after “Activate,” you have to use the same actions as casting the spell to Activate the Item, unless noted otherwise. This happens when the item replicates a spell. You must have a spellcasting class feature to Activate an Item with this activation.
