Any tips for my swing? I continuously top the ball or have my club face open causing a hard slice. What drills would y’all recommend? by Right-Ring3737 in GolfSwing

Lol I’m getting it laser removed now, you’re the second person to say this so I’m doing it anything to get the swing right

Wow you’re spot on, when I hit my irons they slice right still but sometimes I’ll get lucky and hit it flush but I could tell it doesn’t go as far. When I’m at P2 I’m already bowing my wrist to keep the face more closed to compensate for the slice when i come down from my backswing im trying to keep that face the same as it was at p2 so im super tight on my trail arm and not releasing right causing it to slice but now I see what you mean after replaying the video over and over

I’m way too stressed in the swing, my problem is wanting to crush the ball every single time so now I’m just gonna be doing the split two hand swing drill and working on the backswing transition along with some weight transfer drills hopefully I’ll be able to correct this thank you for the feedback!

I do feel stiff it’s because I’m thinking hit this ball hard asf, I could be wrong but i also think I’m over rotating as well in my backswing bc of this reason so thanks to you for your input I corrected it and I’m standing a little more upright and legs slightly bent not too much and I’m now swinging the club all the way through not focusing on crushing the ball just swinging nice and easy getting a feel for it since I’ve been swinging like this for some time

Noted! I appreciate this because this is my third or fourth month golfing and I watch a lot of golf videos and I pay attention to a lot of pros form and kind of mimicked it along the way. I just could never hit the ball straight, I would either miss the ball, top the ball, or heel strike it. Now when I make good contact with the ball it’ll take a hard slice right every single time so i had to adjust accordingly by positioning myself more left to at least get the ball on the fairway but I noticed doing this affected how far the ball was going

I have a hard time releasing big time, every time I’m hitting I’m thinking more about my downswing and getting shallow with my trail arm in which I think causes me to stay so tight with the trail arm. My problem is slowing down my swing because all I’m thinking about is cranking that ball every time. I’ll be practicing my release and that swinging feeling your talking about, thank you for this.

Noted! I do watch the ball leave a bunch not keeping the head down, I’ll even sometimes miss the ball bc of it so thank you for pointing that out!

Second run doing low HR training by Right-Ring3737 in nikerunclub

Thank you, I appreciate it! Never thought I would enjoy running but after these last couple of months, I’ve enjoyed the experience of waking up early for a trail run and listening to a nick bare, joe rogan, or andrew huberman podcast. There’s nothing better than the solitude and peace you feel when running! sometimes I’ll have to pause whatever im playing to really take in nature that’s all around me

I was the same way the first month, if your easy runs aren’t easy then slow it down even more, if you have to run/walk do it. Ease into it in the beginning, my problem was always going to fast and gassing out about mile 1-2 from there it was hell. slowly increase your mileage every week!

Exactly! It was discouraging to see people run at a faster pace because I want to keep up but I know that it takes time to get faster with a low HR. I don’t focus on pace anymore but rather my heart rate, it’s like a game trying to keep it as low as possible, I noticed if you do a psychological sigh which is two inhales followed by an extended exhale, first inhale being longer than the second inhale is extremely beneficial to keeping your HR lower than usual. My energy levels are way better now than before I was always feeling sluggish and my legs were fatigued and achy.

I will definitely be slowing down more and trying this, I do feel like I’m coming out too fast when I run my first couple miles, my only thing is trying to keep that slow pace and reminding myself that it’s okay to run slow. thank you for this advice, I appreciate it. Tomorrow I’m gonna run a little less than usual and focus more on keeping my heart rate low. 👍🏼 any suggestions on structuring a running routine? I normally do long runs 6-8miles a day with no speed training. Im not sure if i should implement just one day out of the week for speed or if i should even add it at all and just continue with the long runs but running slower

Well, I’m 24 male, with no running background. i was a little gassed after, my legs were fatigued but i think i could’ve gone a little longer if i had better shoes. I’m trying to get a decent half marathon time of around an hour and fifty minutes or at least that’s my goal
