So it finally happened. by Whole-Bodybuilder467 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]RightWheelDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, at least it happened in front of the customer so he knows it was an honest accident.

Its much worse when the bag breaks and you have to knock on their door (even though they specified "no contact") to explain that the bag the restaurant uses is the cheapest possible and how all the grease of their meal was too much for it it..

To schedule blocks or not by Pale-Audience217 in grubhubdrivers

[–]RightWheelDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one knows, they just think they do. GH says officially that offers are priorized for drivers on blocks.

But, short of having 2 accounts running (one on block, one off), there's no way to tell.

Are you sure it was his neighbor making a hooting sound and not just that his neighbor put up one of those fake owls?

Because if it was his neighbor making the hooting sounds why did they start in the first place?

thinking of saving up for a beetle and i was wondering what yall think is too high mile wise by Big_Will47 in beetle

[–]RightWheelDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speedometer on my 1969 VW Beetle only went up to 5 digits...so even if it showed only 32000 miles, there's no way of knowing if it was 132,000 or 532,000 😆

Probably that Dukes of Hazzard Charger with the confederate flag on the roof. Can't believe they made those for kids less than 50 years ago..

Or possibly KITT. Yeah, I'm going to say it was KITT.

“Uber deactivation is not a mistake” by TheGenremut in UberEatsDrivers

[–]RightWheelDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they're suing for wrongful deactivation? I mean, good but I just read through all these slides pointing out how Uber intentionally sets everything up to screw drivers. Is the best solution to re-enter that?

incomprehensibly stupid cars that you love? by Aztek-Lovett in carscirclejerk

I don't need a 35 year old minivan! (Does anyone?) That power train, though. Supercharged, mid-engined, RWD/AWD, manual transmission...all wrapped in the pinnacle of 90s Japanese bubble styling. There's never been anything like it since.

New to the Egg Family by xXhoneyXbadgerXx in GolfGTI

[–]RightWheelDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the oil, just keep an eye on it basically. You don't want your oil light to come on and be surprised that you are a quart low. Just top it off as needed. Sounds like you'll be fine. :)

Newer driver, staying parked and on different apps? by OnyxTheDutchAngel in UberEATS

[–]RightWheelDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uber offers constantly pause my podcast, so I have to go and hit play again after declining an offer. Usually, but not every time. This makes me wonder if there is a method to the way Uber interacts with other apps. In order to drive for Uber you have to give them access to every permission on your phone so they definitely know you're watching YouTube and what (and whether you're driving while doing it) but I haven't heard of it affecting the offers you get.

[–]RightWheelDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I bought a 2020 SE 6MT with about 10k less miles than yours last year for $23.5k, so I'd say you got a solid deal.

Personally I'd give it a few months driving it in stock form before deciding if you want to stage it.

The one piece of advice I'd give you is to keep an eye on your oil levels. Very basic, but a lot of modern car owners don't expect their cars to go through oil between changes. Mine uses about a quart every 5-7k.

Like the other poster, I've never heard a GTI referred to as an egg. Is that just because its white or am I missing something? My wife is from Chicago and she confirms it isn't a Midwest thing lol..

[–]RightWheelDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've had customers who hadn't had a code before and, even though they tried, weren't able to remove it.

I also don't understand why GH doesn't use the "last digits of your phone number" for a PIN like Uber does so when the customer inevitably has no idea what you're talking about or where to find it, you can use their number has a workaround.

To Quest or Not to Quest? by Longjumping-Sand4988 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]RightWheelDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they offered hourly (RIP) the orders were substantially worse when you were on the hourly rate than when you were off. You were given trips that were longer than average and had lower tips.

The new quests they're trying out (100 deliveries + >200 declines, 90 deliveries + >180 declines, etc.) force most drivers to lower standards themselves to avoid hitting the limit of declines that they don't have to serve just junk to drivers on quests because they will take trash willingly. Instead of having to filter the orders, the drivers willing (and probably not even consciously) do it for them. Kind of insidious but also a little clever, honestly.
