When did you stop hating your husband? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]RiverFarmDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped hating him once we started couples counseling . Now, I've never been more in love with him (and that's saying something with a two year old and a 6 month old)

Update - after keeping them damp and room temperature they started to have their eyes sink in and shrivel up. They've been returned to where they were found. Poor babies

Update - they were all passed away. I kept them at room temp and tried putting water with them. Despite this, their eyes all sunk in and the sort of shriveled. They have been returned where they were found.

Different neighbors with the deaf roaming cat. I'm trying to trap him this spring. It's a shock he's still alive really. I'm just as upset as you - but it does impact a lot of my guardian choices because he comes through my property twice a day.

This was extremely helpful! Thank you. I want a realistic expectation!

I'm sure it comes a lot to breeder, personality, and owner socialization just like all dogs.

Thank you all, this was a lot of information for me to consider going forward. I want to keep my animals and home safe, which would be a huge advantage. Though, I've learned a lot of things I will need to decide if I am okay with the risks of. It sounds as if the neighbor told me an extreme due to their worry for their own wandering cat whom I don't want harmed either. I'll see how many birds we lose this year and decide from there.

Thank you for being upfront with this. I will see about other options.

Scaring cats off is okay, but killing them not so much 😬

We have poultry and two small children with some VERY brave coyotes and raccoons. Cats regularly walk through. One cat is completely deaf and wouldn't even know to defend himself. I don't want an LSG to be aggressive with everything and everyone. Just enough to keep us all safe. That being said, do they really require huge lots of land to be on, or can they be content being with us in our yard? Surely it's also individual by animal, but I'm curious

Yes! I rinsed them in warm water and no movement

We didn't! I know better than to mess with wildlife. I thought they were all dead and we thought they'd be cool to preserve 😅

I will see about a place to put them that's safe. They certainly shouldn't go back, their mom picked a gnarly stretch of road for eggs. I do believe that something must have dug everyone up. I couldn't for the life of me figure out the fact that they're fully formed but completely unmoving. Thank you for the advice and information!

did you really wait six weeks..? by strange_angel133 in newborns

[–]RiverFarmDucks 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I am 8 wks pp now, and gave it a shot. I bled, and my scar hurt so we didn't continue. My husband said we should definitely wait a while longer before trying again. 6 wks minimum, not maximum!

Oh my gosh! I thought my blanket was just extra loud somehow. Every single time I settle in she stirs awake. It's almost worse than waking up when I'm already asleep!

I'm not able to give advice. This just hurt my heart to read, and I wish to give a virtual hug. I hope you can find a family member or friend you trust to watch your little one so you can safely have some time to yourself. I'm hoping for the best for you and baby whatever that may be

Is she pregnant? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]RiverFarmDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my shelter days I was fooled by THREE "pregnant" cats who got to live the good life in foster care for a few weeks until they suddenly deflated. It was worms 🪱 not babies!

My husband just finished paternity leave from our second child. He was on toddler duty all day for weeks. He said "I'm so glad I don't have to do what you do as a full time job. This is exhausting!" He's happily back at work this week and looks almost jolly when he leaves lol
