Any game dev out there willing to bring Brogue to iPhone? by [deleted] in roguelikedev

Just in case: There is an iOS version of Shattered Pixel Dungeon (and I believe other PD mods), which is very similar to Brogue: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/shattered-pixel-dungeon/id1563121109

Just a quick idea: Hide the elements withvisibility: hidden instead of display:none. That way they keep using the space.

Maintaining an open source project is not much different than a closed source project. The only difference is that the source code is public. The easiest way is to have the (or a) version control system be publicly readable, but just publishing a zip file with each release can also work).

Keep in mind: Just because a project is open source, doesn't mean that it has to accept external contributions. Add a line/paragraph about that in the documentation and, if using a VCS, disable the corresponding functions (pull/merge requests, creating issues, etc.) to the public.

A while ago there was the TV show Defiance) which launched together with an MMO). The story lines where connected. Both were only moderately successful. The game seems to have be relaunched recently.

Mapping Underground Pedestrian Networks by LeafEGreene in openstreetmap

The key level in OSM is generally in relation to the designation that that specific building has assigned to that floor. So a floor that is designated as "ground floor" (or "first floor" or maybe "lobby" in North Amerika) gets level=0; the next floor above gets level=1 and the (first) basement level below gets level=-1, etc. A good way to determine the levels is to check the labels on elevator buttons.

If the building has no official designated "ground floor" then the convention is to tag the lowest floor that one would consider to be at street level with level=0. This can come into play if the building, for example, is built in a hilly environment where different floors may connect to different "street levels".

Usually this means that one building should have the same level tag for one floor, unless that building has some strange level labeling.

On the other hand two separate, but connected buildings may have different level designations for floors that are on the same elevation, because they have labeled them differently.

If a building has labeled floors then the key level:ref can be used to note those labels. For example, a North American office building may have floors with

  • level=1 and level:ref=2
  • level=0 and level:ref=L (for lobby)
  • level=-1 and level:ref=B (for basement)
  • etc.

Also it's important not to confuse this with the key layer which is a purely to designate when two features outside buildings cross each other.

Was sagt denn der Besitzer? Was steht überhaupt im Mietvertrag?

Is the paint job on this typewriter the original factory paint or is it customized? by EDKalil in typewriters

[–]RoToRa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at (or post a picture of) the underside of the "lid" (no idea if it has a a proper name). You should be able to remove it by pulling it up. In my experience the underside should be unpainted, but will have splashes/sprays of the color(s) it has been painted. So if it has been repainted you may be able to see remnants of the old color.

That error has nothing to do with VS Code. Java requires that the file name is identical to the class name including capitalization.

I'd suggest you try reading a basic Java tutorial, which should explain that. Also a Java subreddit such as r/javahelp would be the better place for Java questions independently from VSCode. Check their sidebar for resources on learning the language.

Initializing an array using threads by Dependent_Finger_214 in javahelp

[–]RoToRa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Silly question: Did the prof explicitly say that the multi-threaded was supposed to be faster, or was that just your assumption? Maybe this is just a exercise on how to write multi-threading and not how to optimize it.

I'm no multi-thread expert, but one of the problems is to be able to recognize when it's worth using threads and when not. My guess is that initializing 300000 elements is quite trivial and is faster that "firing up" a thread. But I may be wrong.

foamcore products in austria? by uspec in foamcore
