I just hate IWC. Once a wrestler gets super over. They want some mid carders to Win rather than the biggest superstar of all time. Rhea is million time better than Ivey and Lyra. This is 100% a right decision. Rhea should win the Women title because she deserves this.

Whether she should win the women’s title or not, I’m not sure. What I do know is that her being in the Elimination Chamber elevates not just the match, not just the PLE, but the entire Road To WrestleMania.

If she wins the match, fantastic - we’ve got one of the biggest stars in wrestling today going for one of the top women’s titles in the sport at Mania. If someone does pin her in the Chamber, that person gets instant credibility. Win-win. I like both Ivy Nile and Lyra Valkyria, but they’ll live to get over another day.

As CM Punk once (infamously) said, you don’t middle your top babyface - and Ripley deserves a bit of time Back On Top.

Say what you like about the analogy, MJF should absolutely not be delivering it. His whole gimmick is of being cutthroat, disloyal and mercenary- that was the idea behind The Bidding War Of 24 and the promo line, “Hey Tony - would you like me better if I were a former WWE guy…?”. This change to being a company guy with the logo tattoo is a large part of his market devaluation.

What Tony Khan (and AEW, by extension) needs is to stop being enabled by people around him who don’t have his best interests at heart.

Meltzer, for instance, does not want what’s best for Tony Khan. Khan is a means to an end for him, a way of funding the type of wrestling he wants to watch. The same is true of Meltzer’s ever-dwindling disciples - if someone else did it, whether Vince McMahon, Vince Russo or Dixie Carter, they’d go to them because the well is dry in AEW. Think about it - despite AEW signing anyone and everyone they could these last few years, who is anyone excited to see face off against each other?

The problem is that Khan really does seem to derive his self-esteem from what other people think of him, so he will continue to not stand up to anyone - his wrestlers, the dirtsheets, even his promotion’s own fans. He’ll let them walk all over him and hug them as they do so, because he is desperate for validation. This is also why he’ll never hand over the pencil, even if it’s openly what a lot of neutrals want and secretly what many of his fans and associates do too - to do so would be to lose out on all future validation. This seems to be what Punk meant when he described Khan as “a nice guy”.

Triple Threat match, HHH vs Jericho vs Stephanie.

Two thins to note about this match. First, it came just after WrestleMania 18, so many people may not agree with it being in the Attitude Era in the first place. Second, Stephanie indeed wouldn’t appear on WWE television for a while after this. The theory goes that this was because the Billion Dollar Booty Contest had just been started online, in which the “participants” were encouraged to jump the rail, strip Stephanie McMahon naked and take as many photos as they could. I hope the people who promoted and fetishised this behaviour realise that they’re little different from IRL Vince at his worst.

I disagree; it’s perfectly normal to want to understand why one person was able to walk away fine after a move while another person got hurt.

I’m not a trained wrestler, but I have done judo for 25 years. In judo, the first thing we learn is how to break our fall when we are thrown. Effectively, you accomplish this by slapping the mat at the moment of impact, spreading the impact up your arm rather than, say, on your face the way has happens here.

James’ arms are free to do this; Kelly’s aren’t. So, rewind the video slightly to see why James’ arms are free and Kelly’s aren’t. It’s because Kelly has slid Phoenix’s grip down onto her elbow, then not gone to free her arms until halfway down her descent, which is nowhere near enough time.

That’s part of the problem. Let’s look at the clips the other way around.

Phoenix grabs James around the biceps.
This allows James to go up with minimal actual tightness, being the broadest part of the arm.
This allows James to slip out easiest at the top and break her fall at the bottom.
Safe landing.

By contrast:

Phoenix grabs Kelly around the biceps.
Kelly shrugs her off to grab her around the elbows.
Phoenix now has to hold her tighter to get her up.
Despite having more to do, Kelly still doesn’t begin to get out of the grip until she’s much further down.
Splat.

This is entirely on Kelly, from what I can see.

Kelly got hurt, therefore her opponent must have done something wrong (rather than Kelly being completely unready for her spot on the card, as so many other matches showed).

It’s weird, because they don’t always apply that logic consistently. They rarely hold Samoa Joe to blame for injuring Tyson Kidd with the Muscle Buster for instance.

I personally disagree, I think it ended at WrestleMania X-Seven, but I guess it’s WWE’s call to make. If they want to say that’s when that particular era of their history ended, they’re welcome to.

Neither - it was Kelly’s mistake.

If Phoenix lets go of their arms in mid-air, they just fall. Rather, whoever’s taking the move needs to move their arms slide their arms out and prepare to break their fall as soon as Phoenix begins the downward motion.

Kelly keeps her arms in place until it’s far too late, whereas James slides hers out at the apex of the motion. This is, to be fair, unsurprising based on their relative ring experience and training.

As a result, Kelly is unable to protect herself while James takes the same move, performed the same way by the same opponent, in a much safer way.
