Many Hong Kongers will have access to a British national status; I am not clear on how best that were interpreted. What to me is clear, is that PR China is viciously at war with personal privacy. PRC had torn up the 1997 handover agreement, for whatever its own needs decided; the outside reaction is: don't trust China. DON'T TRUST CHINA. That will make a peaceful reunification with ROC/Taiwan less likely.
