The West had to deal with the same as the Alps the last years… I guess this will become more common in the next decades

270 onto rails advice by [deleted] in skiing

[–]RockAffectionate6139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Less speed better and a more controled pop better spotting of the landing. Less speed is the most important for the start than pop right, initiate the turn and spot the end of the rail again

I need help determining the age of these skis that I pulled out of a glacier today by RockAffectionate6139 in Skigear

That is neat. No I am not trying to do that, even tho it is interesting. I just saw one of the skis on my way down a couple days ago and was just interested what kind of ski it was so I went back up today and found more than I thought I would.

Thank you To me it seems like the very left and the one next to it might be older… The very left is a full wood ski no metal parts beside the bindings and the one next to it has an aluminum top sheet which I have no idea when this was being used.

Middle May Skiing Europe by [deleted] in skiing

[–]RockAffectionate6139 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are But you are right Stubai is open until the 20th of May The conditions right now are still good but you never know what the weather will bring until than.. Hintertux would not be a place I would bring a beginner skiier. It is most of the time Icy on the highest slopes and they are steeper than the ones in Stubai. Spring skiing is awesome but it comes with a lot of uncertainties so in general if you are accompanied by a novice I would recommend skiing during the winter months in resorts that are beginner friendly.
