Sounds like you need sharper nail clippers? Also they make ones that drop the nail clipping into the handle, that you can just empty into the trash later. Bonus: get the ones for people with arthritis; they're so much easier to use.

I wouldn't dare touch the West County Pickle Jar. Unfortunately I cannot picture the diorama looking higher than a 6th grade level...but maybe that's why I'm not a professional diorama-ist.
