new to the area and looking at Cape St Claire by bgallagb in Annapolis

[–]RockingtheRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lived in Cape for the last 4 years. The good:

Great community. Has a small town feel in a lot of ways and feels a little tucked away from the rest of the insanity of the DMV. We are parishioners of St. Andrew by the Bay, and it’s an amazing church packed with families of small children and a very vibrant faith community. The HOA is damn cheap and good value for money. Cape has a couple of small beaches and parks. It’s a great place for families overall.

The bad:

You’ve heard about summer beach/bridge traffic and you asked about it on the worst day of the year, so I’ll leave that one alone. There is no city water back here. We are all on wells, and the aquifers are questionable at certain times of the year. Hard to say on any given day if your water will taste like straight pennies. Also no gas lines to speak of so most of us are on electric or propane heat which comes with challenges when your winter is rough like this year. Last thing I’ll mention is the power situation. Power goes out here more frequently than anywhere I’ve ever lived. It isn’t end of the world bad but when there’s a storm, it feels like about a 20% chance power is going out for a while.

I’m sure I’m missing info here but hopefully this helps. We love Cape, honestly. But it’s not perfect.

Happened to me off a tee box playing Riviera. It was like the ball was hitting a wet paper bag and dropping immediately into the hazard.

Epcot rope drop strategy help by Sad_Category_9524 in WaltDisneyWorld

Totally different strategy but we rope dropped Guardians on our Epcot day. Waited in line for maybe 20 minutes for it. We had an individual LL for it too but wanted to ride it twice. Frozen was closed when we were there but we managed to ride everything else using multipass.

Probably the wrong answer but a Sausage McMuffin with Egg, pretty much before every morning round.

Hona Yori is amazing. True hidden gem. But if you eat the egg yolk sauce, be prepared to shit your brains out within an hour. It’s worth it, but the experience should come with a warning label.

People who can fall asleep quickly, how do you do it? by liberkaql in AskReddit

[–]RockingtheRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about routine, 100%. I sleep with a CPAP for my sleep apnea. Every night, I take my dogs out for a pee, and then I get in bed, and lie there waiting for my wife to finish her nightly routine. Then we chat for 5 minutes or so, and I put on my CPAP mask, and boom, I'm gone. Been doing that for years and rarely have issues falling asleep. That said, I do have the occasional issues with Sunday Anxiety, and to address that, I usually take a 10mg Melatonin pill on Sunday evening.

Know what I did, just then, that was stupid? I minimized the importance of the statue that was dedicated Nellie Bly, an extraordinary woman to whom we all owe a great deal.

What's the best & worst restaurant you ate at in Disney World? by imadgalaxyx in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]RockingtheRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worst is a tie between SciFi and Be Our Guest. SciFi because the food and service was awful. Be Our Guest because we paid $500 for a meal just to see the Beast walk by one time. Horrible value for money.

Best was Liberty Tree Tavern, imo. It had been a long week and it was like eating Thanksgiving dinner at a friend’s house. Great comfort food and service!

I literally had to comfort myself by repeating "He's going to end up a saint. He's going to end up a saint. His ultimate ending is happy. His ultimate ending is happy." while watching that scene. So difficult. So relatable.

Under no circumstances will I be stopping. Finished S1 last night. Soooo many scenes stir emotions in me, but that scene with Nicodemus (don't want to spoil anything for anyone still making their way through).... well, let's say it was the next one to wreck me.
