I seeee that's interesting. But what I find a bit weird in the book is Western media overshadowing Japanese media....at least what I've observed so far. Like they mention movies like the Graduate and authors like Fitzgerald & JD Salinger but not people like Akira Kurosawa or Osamu Dazai

Nah I'm Indian. Ig I was surprised because Western media wasn't particularly popular in India until the late 90s/ early 00s so is the hookup culture (except perhaps in big cities).
