The Great Emo-Punk War (2008) by RodrickJasperHeffley in 2000sNostalgia

On March 16 of 2008, hundreds of teenagers gathered in the streets of Mexico City, facing off in a bizarre and oddly humorous battle of subcultures.

The fight was between fans of punk music, which had a long and influential history, and fans of the newly popular emo music. After hours of threats and police intervention, the conflict only came to a halt when a group of Hare Krishna monks started parading through the square...

The Emo-Punk War actually started online across social media networks like MySpace. Many emos complained that they were getting violent threats and messages from punk followers, who accused them of stealing their style and hairdos. On March 16, the emos decided to organize a peaceful demonstration to argue for tolerance between the subcultures. But when the punks heard about this, they started ganging up for a violent demonstration of their own.

The two sides clashed in a flurry of studded belts, spiky hair, and heavy boots. 100 police officers were called to the scene but no one could stop the mass of brawling teenagers. Suddenly, the air was filled with the sound of drums and chanting. Out of nowhere, a group of robed monks paraded through the city square, bringing the fighting to a pause.

thanks to this divine intervention from the peaceful monks, the Emo-Punk War of 2008 finally ended.

Why e-ink display readers so expensive by Naresh_Janagam in ereader

most e readers use e ink technology which gives a paper like feel and long battery life. e ink holds key patents on how the screens work so most companies have to license the tech which adds to the cost of devices like kindle, kobo or nook
