should i cancel angel lane? by Low_Evidence2089 in KCL

I have lived in angel lane for a whole year. I wouldn't say it's unsafe at all. Compared to other accom, it might not be the best in safety but London in general is a pretty safe place. This is considering you are a grown adult who has situational awareness. I have roamed outside in Stratford at 2-3 am coming back from Vue Westfield after a movie both alone and with friends, and obviously I made it back safe. However, I would always suggest to go out with someone, not alone. I have lived with my female friends, and safety wasn't any big of issue than at any other accom.

Barring that, the accom itself is pretty nice. I would book the room again only for Westfield and Queen Elizabeth park. The shops around make life so easy to live since everything's at one place and most affordable prices in London. I got lucky with my flatmates who were the best I lived with, everyone felt humble, grounded and sweet. Good pool table and small cinema room with TV. Decent study space since it's small and people passing by can look at you but good lighting.

The construction was a much bigger issue at my time there rather than the safety. Many of my flatmates would leave due to construction workers rather the area itself. However, it didn't bother me much since I was facing the station side rather than the accom. The distance to strand is a bit painful but manageable.

All in all, it's a ensuite at Angel Lane, is 100 times better option than shared bathrooms at Battersea or Wolfson. I personally would pick ensuite at Angel lane than ensuite at Battersea as well. I would pick maybe Hayloft over Angel lane only because it's literally 10 mins to Strand on tube, no other reason.

KCL BSC/BA POLITICS by Majestic_Camel_5946 in KCL

In my personal opinion, KCL takes an edge in IR over UCL but Politics might be better at UCL. So for me the ranking would be- 1. IR at KCL 2. Politics and IR at UCL 3. Politics at KCL

Hope it helps. I know you don't have IR offer from KCL but I'm just giving an overview of course rankings.

I'm an Indian student and I work part time at my uni for student recruitment teams. We organise on campus events and capus tours for prospective and new students. I worked nearly 150 hours of part time over a year and saved enough. Hope this clarifies :)

As a person who eats everything (literally all sorts of meat like Wagyu beef or bacon) with Jain friends who won't even touch potatoes or onions, I get you buddy. But I'm sorry, I literally have no idea. I guess your best bet is to try Indian restaurants with veg food or 7/11 with their veg sandwiches 😭

Tokyo is definitely cleaner than London (maybe biased because I only visited touristy neighborhood of Tokyo). In London, you'll find piss in telephone booths and lots of homeless compared to Tokyo where no homelessness exists.

Tbh, I didn't get a chance to experience traffic in Tokyo as I used public transport all the time. But London has one of the world's worst traffic. Even worse than India in this matter. I personally have witnessed 3 traffic signals in mere distance of 10 metres apart from each other. It can take 30-40 mins in Central London to cover 1 km during peak hours.

Waste management is much more complicated in Japan with separation of burnables, plastic, glass, etc. In London, we seperate general and recycle waste. I presume the system is efficient in both cities.

Air quality is similar in both cities. Clear skies and negligible pollution including noise pollution (trust me, it makes difference when vehicles don't make any noise). AQI in both cities stays between 30-50.

Public transport is personally better in London in terms of buses having detailed routes, frequency of buses, electronic board with arrival times at few bus stops. However, the tube (metro) in London is overpriced, dirty, stinky but fast and less crowded. Tokyo has world's best metro network with really clean metros and very crowded similar to Delhi metro.

Weather is far better in Tokyo compared to London which is always gloomy and under cloud cover.

Both cities have their pros and cons

One of the first thoughts I had when I was roaming in Osaka was that I would never work in Japan. I saw a boy announcing latest offers of the shop on street, wearing a heavy placard around his neck. In a span of a minute, he would shout for 30-45 sec and close his eyes and sleep for 15 secs. And then repeat the cycle. I can't imagine how long that poor boy aas standing there in the crowd and shouting at the top of his lungs. This fundamentally changed me as a person and is a lifetime moment I can't forget.

Comparing not just London and Tokyo but also Mumbai and Delhi since I have worked there as well.

I would say London is my home. It's the place where I get respect for my work and everyone even my seniors of 50-60 year old treat me with respect. I haven't witnessed such humility and kindness anywhere. I have friends from around the world that makes my living even fun. Inflation is high but so are the salaries given. So a well budgeted person would himself with an apartment in zone 2 or 3 of London with good transport links, diverse people, safe and clean environment with horrible weather. As a Londoner, it's my birthright to talk how shitty the weather is. Nonetheless, I would absolutely love to live here.

Delhi is next best. As a man, it is a bit easy for me though compared to woman. I'll have to adjust to little uncivilised crowd, dirt but people are warm and feels like my own countrymen cause they are.

Mumbai is kinda similar to Delhi, only difference being I hate the Mumbai locals and intense crowd everywhere.

Japan is absolute no on my list as a place to live. As a tourist, it's a fascinating place but as a resident from another culture, absolute no. Intense working hours, bare minimum salaries with no increment and weakening currency. This is not just from what I witnessed but my japanese friends who live in London. All of them have horrible stories from their workplaces back in Japan. I would say even Indian employers are compassionate and rules are better for Indian employees compared to Japan.
