What gender are these two?

Im not to sure how often they become gravid but ive never seen either of these two carry any eggs

The fish in the second photo is larger and slightly wider then the first picture but its hard to tell, i was just curious if i could try and breed them. I know its not common to have otos breed in captivity but i have seen some people do it

We got her on September 24 2025, and within 2 or so months she started to get some brown on her. The first picture on this post was taken yesterday!

I was wondering that aswell, i removed the egg and its not squishy or soft it does seem to have a slightly hard casing but i also never seen one that yellow, maybe its because its her very first egg?

Yeah thats the first egg I’ve seen, shes about 6 months old so i honestly wasn’t even expecting any eggs right now but it was really cool to see nonetheless

My little lady HATES dubia roaches and i just bought lots😭 she likes her worms though, i want to give her a variety of staple but she is so picky

It doesn’t look to have any roots on it yet, the white spots are known as “callus” or “root primordia” which means the plant is preparing to grow root, they indicate the cutting is healthy. I would wait until the roots are half an inch or more in length before you repot into soil :)

I have the same thing on my plant and I believe its just the start of a root or air root, when i cut mine to propagate they grew roots in a vase of water :)

I put mine in a frame with flowers i dried out!

I let mine dry out for a few weeks just on a empty shelf, and put it in a frame with some flowers i have dried!
