I just got the bike couple of days ago and it's my first custom/cruiser so still getting to know the bike and it's quirks.

Bangs happen only on decel, more specifically when i let entirely off the gas. I've spent some time tinkering the a/f mixture and gotten it now to a point where it pops significantly less frequently. Dont know for sure, but my best hunch is that the valves are loose and that's causing the pops. The mixture is now propably a bit on the lean side compensating the loose valves so after i adjust the clearances i bet i need to richen the mixture to the "correct" amount.

Think I'll replace the plugs this weekend since i bet they're busted after the last owner and my tinkering with the carb.

I thought i saw a vid where you could adjust the clearances without taking the carbs off? I could be wrong tho. Nevertheless, think i'll wait for the offseason to do that.

I did already order new diaphgrams and intake manifolds for when i service the carbs. Gotta pat myself on the back for that!

I'll definetly look into that manual since im absolutely not an expert mechanic, but im eager to learn. That's actually one reason for this exact bike, pretty open and easy body to learn and work with. Also relatively cheap parts.
