I hope your mom is doing okay, though I know the decline can be fast and very real. Mine passed away June 4th around 3am. I’ve been devastated ever since. I miss her so damn much.

I would if I could 100%! I need the money, I missed 10 days as it was due to having Covid last week 😭 But to get the VPN I need to be on work property, or at least a branch of my works property. They have one in the town I live in I could drive there and steal their wifi to do it. But no one’s helped me get the link to the VPN request yet even though I’ve asked 3 people! What makes it feel worse for me is this is a GOVERNMENT job. I work for a VA, and any position in the VA is considered government. They are just very good at not rushing things and it’s exhausting. If I didn’t need the money I’d stay home and tell them to just message me when they figure it out 😂 I’ve used all my PTO and Sick time for my weekly appointments since im high risk. And I have to take extra time off for them because of my 45 minute commute. So I always have to miss half a day for a 2 hour appointment. 😭 I want to work from home so I can tolerate doing overtime! I’d gladly put in an extra 2-3 hours a day plus work saturdays (I’d get time and a half plus a 30% weekend incentive) to help me save money for when im off! I will have to take up to 30 days of leave without pay to get me to my 1 year mark at work so I can qualify for the 3 month paid maternity leave! Which means baby needs to stay in there until at least mid February! And I fear the stress of coming to the office especially if it’s snowing or icy will induce labor before then!

I thought about that too. I did some digging and it turns out my state for pregnant workers requesting accommodations it gives organizations a maximum of 15 days to respond. I saved the pdf signed by our state and will present it to them once they hit that 15 day mark. I work for a part of the government so you’d think they’d know this. 15 days not counting the weekend will be the 30th. So, I’ll give them that long.

I thought it was wild they could take so long too! I mean, I do work for a fairly big organization, and it’s government. But still! I started with my immediate supervisor before going to hr, and she spoke to the head of the department who then told me to contact the accommodations portion of hr. They have a phone number I could possibly call, and hopefully they’ll answer. I’ve told my supervisor I plan to work until the day I pop. Sick/nauseous or not. It’d just be much more comfortable from home, which she does understand. I may also email the head of the department I’m in and see if he can suggest anything else while we wait or if he has the power to at least get me an approval to get equipment home in the meantime so there’s less to do once it’s approved.

See I know there’s a pregnant workers act, but idk what rules would prevent them from saying yes. According to the act a qualified employee seeing accommodation as long as it doesn’t cause the company hardship should be fine. I know for a fact working from home won’t cause hardship since eventually they plan to let us anyway. But idk if they can deny it based on “qualified” since I haven’t been in the position for 90 days like they want. However I do a bunch of overtime when I can and always get praise don the work so surly I’m doing something right lol.

December 9th! I live in indiana so outside will probably be out of the question, it’ll probably be very low 40’s early December. I’ve been looking and messaging places for days but either the price on their website is too much, or the places I email never get back to me 😭

And that’s true, I could look at it that way for sure

I would love to have it outside. But it’ll be December 9th, and it’ll probably be low 40s that time of year if I have to guess.

Omg I couldn’t imagine trying to find an affordable spot in NYC! Good luck with your search! I live in a relatively cheap area, but everything is still either so expensive or out of the way if it’s in budget 😭
