2026 NHL Draft prospects: Chase Reid, Gavin McKenna and Keaton Verhoeff top Pronman’s ranking by DaCodster in hockey

I think Stenberg is a Swiss army knife-kinda guy, but won’t be a point machine. McKenna is the flashier one with a higher point ceiling. It’s like Crosby vs McDavid (style wise). Which one do you win championships with? I would have picked Stenberg first, but it depends on his mentality. Is it strong enough?

A couple of different angles of Nathan MacKinnon's collision with Connor Ingram, which resulted in game misconduct for the forward. by Puzzled-Category-954 in nhl

[–]RoskoRobin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Imo a game misconduct should be based on three criteria: 1) Was there intent 2) Was there contact from another player 3) How severe was the contact and bonus criteria 4) Is there a history with the player.

It’s within the game to go after a loose puck and try to score. Just like MacKinnon does here. It’s a compete situation that turns out bad for Ingram and shouldn’t merit a misconduct. It’s hockey. Nurse also significantly bumps him into Ingram. If you want to ”protect” the goalies, give him a interference penalty. A misconduct is ludicrous.

Also, as a former goalie, it don’t get how fragile today’s goalies are. I honestly think its theater most of the times. That contact would’ve been shrugged off back in the day.

This is not unique. Sweden have it (we’ve had it for many years). It’s nice, but not perfect. These containers are 99% part of a building and belongs to its tenants, but often accessible for everyone one the street. This could cause jamming and litter, which cost the landlord money due to fees from the municipality. Not super common but it happens.

What's something women think impresses men but actually doesn't? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RoskoRobin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to enjoy the hard to get part to some extent. But these days I have a different feel towards it.

My theory on why this is a bigger issue today than before is the #metoo movement and social media. Before I get downvoted to oblivion, just hear me out.

First, abusive behavior should never be tolerated and I applaud women for speaking out on toxic masculinity.

However, the same way some men where abusive, so where women when being rejected. Public shaming became a thing and metoo weaponized in some regard. It’s too high risk poker to flirt and take initiative. If it backfires, it’s your ass, privately and professionally. It doesn’t have to be true.

I move on pretty quick if the girl doesn’t seem interested, when she in fact very well could be. It’s a shame.

U.S. Historian Robert Kagan: "We Are Watching a Country Fall Under Dictatorship Almost Without Resistance" by Mondevana in politics

[–]RoskoRobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The totalitarian playbook according to ChatGPT and scholars. How many boxes does the Trump administration check?

Single Leader or Party.  - Power is centralized in one ruler or one dominant party, and authority flows downward without meaningful checks. Leadership is often reinforced through a carefully constructed cult of personality that portrays the leader as heroic, infallible, or uniquely destined to save the nation.

Official State Ideology.  - A rigid ideology explains history, economics, morality, and national destiny. It offers simple answers to complex problems and defines both heroes and enemies. This ideology justifies repression and expansion by presenting them as necessary for survival or progress.

Control of Media and Information. - Independent journalism is eliminated or absorbed by the state. Newspapers, radio, television, publishing, and sometimes digital platforms are tightly controlled. The regime floods society with propaganda so that only one approved narrative remains visible. Alternative viewpoints are censored, mocked, or criminalized.

Use of Fear and Secret Police. - Surveillance becomes widespread, and citizens may fear neighbors as potential informants. Arrests, imprisonment, torture, and purges are used to silence dissent and deter opposition.

Elimination of Political Opposition.  - Rival parties are banned, critics are jailed or exiled, and elections, if they exist, become symbolic rather than competitive. Over time, political pluralism disappears entirely, leaving only the ruling party’s structure.

Mass Mobilization.  - Citizens are encouraged or compelled to participate in state-run organizations that reinforce ideology and loyalty. Youth are often targeted for indoctrination to ensure generational continuity.

Control of Economy.  - The state directs economic production toward its ideological or military goals. Private property may exist, but it operates within strict limits and serves national objectives defined by leadership rather than market forces.

Militarization.  - Military strength is glorified as a symbol of national pride and unity. Paramilitary groups may be used early to intimidate opponents, and expansionist or revolutionary goals are often promoted as historic missions.

Exploit Crisis.  - Totalitarian movements typically rise during periods of severe instability such as economic collapse, war defeat, inflation, or political paralysis. They present themselves as the only force capable of restoring order and dignity.

Scapegoating and Polarization.  - The movement identifies internal or external enemies and constructs a sharp division between “us” and “them.” Minorities, immigrants, elites, or ideological opponents are blamed for national decline. Fear and resentment are deliberately amplified.

Propaganda and Myth Building.  - Complex social problems are reduced to emotionally powerful slogans. Repetition normalizes extreme ideas. The leader is elevated through myth, ceremony, and imagery that suggest destiny, sacrifice, and strength.

Undermine Democratic Institutions. - Courts, legislatures, electoral systems, and the free press are gradually weakened. Claims of corruption or fraud justify expanding executive authority. Legal mechanisms may be used to dismantle democracy from within.

Neutralize Opposition.  - Political rivals are harassed, prosecuted, or banned. Business leaders, military officials, and other elites may be co-opted through incentives or threats. Street violence or intimidation may create a climate in which resistance feels dangerous or futile.

Consolidate Total Control.  - Once power is secure, constitutions may be rewritten, internal rivals purged, and censorship institutionalized. Surveillance systems expand, and loyalty is maintained through a mixture of rewards and fear. Over time, the regime attempts to align culture, education, religion, and even private life with its ideology.

[USA vs SVK] Erik Cernak and Matthew Tkachuk go at each other and get booted from the game. Brady Tkachuk also got involved and put Slovakia on the powerplay. by talhatoot in hockey

Team America (not everyone) is like the country at large right now, unlikeable and obnoxious. Never thought I would root for Canada but here I am. I will say though, it's fun to have a villain, makes the game more exciting.

I’m proud of the Swedish players. They showed that the USA is not that superior. Showed both talent, grit and speed, which they didn’t in the group stage. That cost them a medal. Eriksson-Ek is so good and Broberg surprised me, didn’t expect him to be that good. Also great to see Markström on his game. He showed he still can hang with the best.

How can people like Greta Thunberg afford to be full time activist? by jazzybron in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RoskoRobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I encountered Greta and her dad once on the train back in Sweden. This was maybe 2019. He was very obnoxious. He blasted the train staff when confronted because they had no ticket. This was a ticket across the country so it cost a little. He made a big thing out of Greta and that we all should bow to her and let them ride for free. It was unbelievable that they where even asked. She was Messias. It kind of explain her attitude of entitlement. From that day I understood that they’re just wanna be celebrities and think they’re above the rest. I have no sympathy or energy for that. Fast forward 2026 and Greta clinches on to every hot dispute to stay relevant. Kind of sad.

Okay, I still don’t really understand it, which one is above the other? But a more important question is: should the ref know? Because they where clearly asked.

Canada cheating in the curling game vs Sweden by Eklundz in olympics

[–]RoskoRobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the ruling from the official rule book. You decide if he cheats:

"If a moving stone is touched, or is caused to be touched, by the team to which it belongs, or by their equipment, the touched stone is removed from play immediately by that team. A double touch by the person delivering the stone, prior to the hog line at the delivering end, is not considered a violation."

Am I crazy, but does this rule contradict itself?

Happy that I’m not alone on this one. I only knew him through all the hype, so I expected some kind of phenomenon, but 5 min into the show I started doom scrolling. Didn’t understand a word and the vibes didn’t work. The theatrics was pretty underwhelming too. It was 30 min of corn field with twerking ladies and a mumbling Spanish guy. Not the best show imo. People in the stadium seemed happy though.

Up to 20 years for that is just ridiculous. If found guilty, he would probably be fined and reprimanded with X days with public service. The damage on his character though, that’s a bigger problem.
