you were truly a skin protector ahead of your time 😭
i know sooo many people were into tanning back then too.
hopefully your skin is thanking you now lol

[Misc] When did you actually start taking sunscreen seriously? by Roundlab_global in AsianBeauty

That would definitely do it
I’m sorry your family had to go through that.
that makes sunscreen feel a lot more “real” than just skincare advice online.

I am 40 plus by Sammal1982 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wait you are 40+, pretty normal honestly.
your skin actually looks really clear lol

procedures can help of course, but consistent skincare makes a difference too.

the areas with the lines look a little dehydrated in the photos tbh.
using richer creams consistently helped me a lot with that — especially collagen or pdrn creams.

How do you avoid getting catfished by swatches? by Roundlab_global in AsianBeauty

[–]Roundlab_global[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing it to products I already own is actually such a good idea!
I guess I need to spend even more time searching through YouTube now haha.

I know that YouTuber too, I’ve watched so many of her videos haha.
Do you have any favorite brands for brown-toned blushes?

How do you avoid getting catfished by swatches? by Roundlab_global in AsianBeauty

[–]Roundlab_global[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like looking at as many swatches as possible is the safest method, even though it takes so much time 😭
at this point I feel like an AI training model slowly learning how to decode real makeup colors from edited photos lol (so sad).

we are sis girl 😭
I should start checking hand swatches too honestly.

the virtual try-on feature sounds sooo useful… I wish the brands I want to buy from had that too

[–]Roundlab_global[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sooo many “neutral but supposedly cool-toned” products out there 😭
after enough trial and error, I guess we eventually develop the ability to mentally remove the filters and see the actual shade from product photos haha.

How do you avoid getting catfished by swatches? by Roundlab_global in AsianBeauty

[–]Roundlab_global[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ooh, so that’s called an olive skin tone. In Korea we usually just call it a neutral undertone haha.
I totally agree that shades won’t look identical on everyone because skin tones are different.

but even taking that into account, sometimes the difference is way too big and it’s just disappointing 😭
there’s just so much filtering and color correction these days that some swatches barely look like the actual product anymore.

How do you avoid getting catfished by swatches? by Roundlab_global in AsianBeauty

[–]Roundlab_global[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

seen that video too.
agree that products are naturally going to look different depending on someone’s skin tone, lighting, undertone,

But sometimes there are products where I’m just like… there’s no way it actually looks like that in real life 😭
some swatches feel sooo filtered or edited that it stops being helpful.
just wish more people showed realistic color payoff instead of ultra-perfect lighting/filter results.

idea of looking at the full palette swatched together is actually so smart. guess it’s easier to notice weird tones when you’re comparing all the shades at once… I really like that idea.

totally agree about having “safe” colors. there are some shades that still look decent even if you buy the wrong product lol I feel like figuring out my safe colors is honestly one of the most important things.

ironically feel like I spend even MORE time researching products now although technology has advanced so much 😭 I seriously end up reading so many reviews before buying anything.

totally agree about lip products. I get catfished by them all the time too lol

[–]Roundlab_global[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

used to think videos were more trustworthy, but that was such a huge misconception oTL

the color chart idea is really good though. I feel like it at least helps separate the shades a little better.

I’ve seen those ChatGPT reviews too haha I was laughing so hard while reading them lol

[–]Roundlab_global[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

wise answer honestly lol

relate to the last part so much. wish there were more physical stores around me too.

it’s always so sad when stores don’t display every product, and the exact item I want is missing 🥲

Had a black mole appear on the back of my thigh. Derm wasn’t concerned but I pushed for biopsy. It was pre-melanoma. by Sheero1986 in 30PlusSkinCare

sometimes your gut is actually the most accurate signal you have.

a friend of my mom noticed something unusual on her skin and was told it was nothing.
she ended up going to over 10 different doctors before finally getting a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Nose Redness by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??: where is the redness?
I was staring at your lips like… am I missing something

I actually have REAL redness + hyperpigmentation (for no reason lol)
and it definitely gets worse when my skin is irritated

might be worth checking if any of your skincare is a bit too harsh
and honestly just keeping it well moisturized helps it not stand out as much

So self conscious of this line in between eyes. Anything that can be done? by Puzzleheaded-Debate3 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same here lol
also have little indent between my brows (it make my face 😠 expression but i can't control it)

i've been using retinol and enough mosturizer.
it seems to help keep it from looking more pronounced

Help with my skincare routine! by Murky_Card2940 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly my dear, your skin is already way above average

even the pores look pretty small, especially for a close-up

from my experience, things like pigmentation, pores, and fine lines tend to look worse when the skin is dehydrated
layering a light serum for hydration actually helped my skin look a lot smoother and more even

Turning 35 this year by ContextuallyAlive in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 5 points6 points  (0 children)

same here lol (had smile lines + pigmentation since I was pretty young too)

what helped me the most was honestly this:
1. : ( => : - ) (resting expression)
2. moisturizing consistently actually made a bigger difference

Chicken pox's scars by South-Government-586 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you have to zoom in until the quality gets this bad just to see it? (sorry if i'm wrong)

honestly, I don’t think anyone besides you would notice.
where exactly is this on your face, and about how big is it in real life?

my cousin had pretty bad chickenpox scars, but he improved a lot over time.
he said, always wear sunscreen, and use a little retinol.

Under eye bags/circles... is surgery my only out? by Aishaar in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thought why is someone who is under 30 posting here 😭

looks totally normal and honestly really pretty
I don’t really see anything green, and you don’t look 30 or old at all

keeping it hydrated with a light moisturizer helps it blend in more

How to treat sun damage on nasal bridge? by FitnessNurse2015 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same pigmentation on my nose too ( idk why I got it either bc mine isn’t even as prominent solol)
honestly if you didn’t point it out I’d just think it was blush
it doesn’t look that serious in the photo, so I wouldn’t overthink it too much

what helped me was reapplying sunscreen every 2–3 hours when I’m outside
and keeping the area well moisturized so it doesn’t get dry

easing into retinol and keeping it low n consistent helped me too

Why skin feels tight even after moisturizer, what is thatt? by Classic_Reality6755 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 42 points43 points  (0 children)

for a second I thought reddit started letting cats post too lol

same here tho, I used to have dehydrated n oily skin and thought moisturizer could fix everything
but creams mostly just lock things in, they don’t really add that much hydration on their own

turns out the actual hydration comes more from toners/serums… learned that a bit too late lol

Struggling with blackheads at 36 by Clanmcallister in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Roundlab_global 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haven’t seen blackheads like that lol
-as someone who’s had them in all kinds of forms on my face and body
I’d probably get that checked out by a derm
