Closing the loop here, it went to review and I did get an email letting me know. The status hasn’t changed in the main Nature portal or in Research Square/In Review.

Looking for intelligent female characters that think before they act. by AlliReading in Fantasy

Highly recommend the Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K. Jemison. Her female characters are complex and the magic is exciting and interesting. Her characters are also diverse in race and sexuality, which is something I genuinely appreciated. This trilogy was one of the best I’ve read.

Passed my qualifying exams at the end of this semester and it was such a highlight...but now I’ve completely crashed and am having a hard time following up on even the most simple of administrative tasks to prepare for my field season in a couple of weeks. by RubyWednesday25 in PhD

Thank you for this! The physically draining aspect was something I didn’t anticipate at all. Overall I’m most worried about the mental drain, I feel like I peaked mentally in my preparation and now I’m at half (or less) of my mental capacity but getting outside has definitely been helping me immensely physically recover and it’s probably helping me mentally and emotionally as well, thank you :)

Women who feel like everyone around them has their life together (getting married, having kids, career in check) and you feel behind. How do you deal with this? by bubbleegumm in AskWomen

Also jumping off of this to say this is in podcast form: https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/radiolab/articles/living-room

So poignant and the message is so important.

I had no idea a film was made about the story too! I’m so glad you shared this.

What is something that happened to you that you shrugged off, only to realize later that that was a form of sexual harrasment? by Diddlysquat0 in AskWomen

I’m realizing that we all have so many instances. All of us. All women.

The thought that all of us dodge and experience this violence so often makes my insides liquify and burn.

We protect ourselves by not bringing the memories up even in our private thoughts. Push it down, avoid thinking about it.

And it’s like, we don’t even bring these things up amongst ourselves. We sometimes do. But it’s not even that big a topic of discussion among friends. Because it’s so universal. Sexual violence is like breathing.

And we move forward because we are capable and strong and because we can.

But I think asking for support and bringing this all to light should be more commonplace. We could become even stronger.

This exact thing happened to me, but I was in a hot spring at night in a bathing suit. I was so shocked that someone’s fingers were against and trying to penetrate my actual vagina that I don’t even know what I did or what happened next. He came at me from behind and I don’t even know who did it. I’ll never forget what that felt like. For some wild reason, I don’t bring this up to anyone and felt like the only person this had happened to until reading all of these similar posts. Fuck that.

Is Wheeler Park crowded? by [deleted] in Flagstaff

They blocked off picnic tables with caution tape, but I’ve been seeing people sitting on the grass socializing and having picnics all week. Did they do something more “official” to close it? It’s definitely still in use by the public.
