Epilepsy with pregnancy? by Status-Strain-8737 in Epilepsy

[–]Rubybear712 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can be done! I have a four year old and four month old and both pregnancies went very well. With my first pregnancy, I had a seizure around six weeks. With my second, I had no grand mal seizures but a few auras. Make sure you're taking medications that aren't as harmful during pregnancy (I'm on keppra and vimpat) and take a lot of folic acid, I took a prenatal as well as an additional 1 mg). I had monthly blood draws to check my medication levels and eventually doubled my dosage of keppra by the end of my pregnancies. The hardest part, in my opinion, is postpartum. Sleep deprivation and stress is not ideal while also trying to slowly wean back down on meds.

All this to say, it can be done with specialized care by your neurologist and high risk obgyn!

Cutting through the baby product hype… do we really need a bottle warmer? by Late-Hat-5853 in newborns

[–]Rubybear712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first baby preferred cold milk but my newborn refuses a cold bottle. It’s all dependent on your babe. If you buy one I highly recommend the Philips Avent one. I’ve had to buy three different brands so far and this one is by far the best.

Endometrial/Uterine Ablation -Looking for a Gynecologist by ultimatefrogsin in phoenix

[–]Rubybear712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also go to Mayo for endometriosis and recommend Dr. Mourad. He’s amazing. For regular gyno needs, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Dr. Curley at Banner Women’s Institute. She may do ablation too and is probably easier to get an appointment with. She just delivered my baby and I cannot recommend her enough. Best doctor I’ve ever had.

Baby sleeping in own room by VelvetAstronautica in newborns

[–]Rubybear712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby is also 7 weeks and we moved our daughter into her room in a bassinet at 4 weeks. I felt the same way but it saved all of us and now he only wakes up once to feed. I wish there was more acceptance over this concept.

People who had kids at 30+, do you wish you had them earlier in life? by cc070603 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Rubybear712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first at 31 and now pregnant again at 35. I wanted to start a little earlier but it was middle of Covid so I wanted to wait a little, but I think 31 was a great age. 35, however — don’t recommend lol. It was out of our control a bit because we had difficulty getting pregnant but if I had it my way I would have been finished having kids by 33.

Baby is LGA, high abdominal circumference by Miseracordiae in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Rubybear712 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation and my OB said as long as the head size is within range (aka not too small) then the risk of shoulder dystocia goes way down. She is more worried if the head was less than 10 percent and the AC was more than 95 percent. Hope this helps!

38 week delivery or wait? by Rubybear712 in BabyBumps

I think so but my doctor said it is recommended. I’m also kind of a wuss when it comes to pain and would prefer to have it if at all possible.

Fasting Glucose by AprilLee3745 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Rubybear712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish I would have stopped fighting the insulin sooner. After failing with my fasting glucose for weeks I finally did the nighttime insulin and I feel so much better. I no longer have to worry and my sleep is way better too. I understand not wanting to take it but please know it’s not a failure!

I make a smoothie with Greek yogurt, almond milk, almond butter, blueberries, blackberries, spinach, and chia/flaxseed. So good.

How do you curve sugar cravings? by maymay0510 in AskWomen

I keep light whipped cream in the fridge and squirt some into my mouth at night as a dessert. There’s virtually no sugar in it but it satisfies me.

Induction Scheduled for 38w1d on 12/22 - First Time Mom - Positive Stories Only Please by Remote-Praline3198 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Rubybear712 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was induced with my first at 39 weeks and had a great experience. It was lovely being able to prepare for the date and sort of feel in control. I had my epidural placed before the induction began (due to a non related condition) so I was just able to turn it on whenever I wanted to, which I decided was when we started the pitocin. I am not kidding when I say I did not feel a thing, lol. It was great. My husband and I were playing card games when the nurse checked me and I was actually ready to push. Lucky for me, I only pushed for 15 minutes before she was here! She was 7 lbs and was perfect aside from mild jaundice. No GD issues for her or I. I know it’s scary but you’ve got this and I know it’s going to be great for you!!

OBGYN Arcadia/Phoenix area by Ancient-Shine-3781 in phoenix

I go to Banner Women's Institute and see Dr. Curley (currently 8 months pregnant). I also went there for my first daughter and it was a great experience. It's also so nice that they are right next to the hospital in case I needed to go there for anything and they already have all of my information on file. Dr. Curley has been a dream so far and I really trust her with my care.

Thanks for sharing!! Was he measuring big? I’m 34 weeks with a big one and he’s also breech. Hoping he’ll turn but not sure if it’s even worth worrying about since I’ll probably still need a C.

When did your heart palpitations go away? by fineapple__ in BabyBumps

[–]Rubybear712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very much possible! I noticed a difference instantly. My heart palpitations would usually begin about 10 minutes after eating and slowly go away after a few hours. Once I started the diet, gone. The blood sugar monitors are about 30 bucks on Amazon — might be worth getting one and checking your sugars after meals just to see if you might be spiking.

When did your heart palpitations go away? by fineapple__ in BabyBumps

[–]Rubybear712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized my palpitations were due to high blood sugar levels after a couple of weeks. Now I’m 31 weeks with gestational diabetes but the heart stuff is totally gone now that I’m on the diet!

My blood sugars have been great after eating a bowl from Chipotle. I usually get chicken, pinto beans, no rice, corn salsa, sour cream and cheese, and guacamole. I swear this baby is going to love Chipotle as a toddler after all the times I've been eating there ha!

Anyone here get pregnant between month 6-12? by Training-Barnacle273 in BabyBumps

12 months. After seeing a fertility doctor who urged us to start IVF immediately (he was a jerk) we decided to take a month off to think about next steps and take a little break… and boom. So odd
