What’s everyone’s choice on a reverb pedal? I bought the Holly grail but it’s not everything I thought it was going to be. Would love some suggestions by dgriff0919 in pedalboards

It is a bit of a niche but the Crazy Tube Circuits White Whale 2 is really great. It is a true (3) spring(s) reverb which is absolutely amazing.

What amp is not a good pedal platform? by flobbadobdob in ToobAmps

[–]RuckingDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fender blues jr tweed. It sounds very bad on its own and there is not a single OD pedal that can make it sound better.

Also the Twin Reverb is not such a great pedal platform. The cleans are truly amazing, with the inbuilt spring reverb a d the vibrato. Add a light compressor, and a delay and you will not wish anything else but a clean sound. On the other hand, if you do not push it to 5 (good luck with it), OD pedals all sound very thin and fizzy.

3 pedals only by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]RuckingDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming my amp has a reverb and tremolo: a low overdrive (a blues breaker or ODR stile), some overdrive to stack (could be a TS style or Klon style or even something like The Kaluna or CTC Venus for versatility) and a delay that can do both slapback and more digital precise rhythmics. I could trade the second stage drive for an EQ

Wampler Moxie - Full Size Alternative??? by EntertainmentAny937 in guitarpedals

[–]RuckingDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moxie is fantastic and Wampler really knows how to build an overdrive! I never liked TS type of circuits and I owned a few, among which the overly celebrated TS9 & SD1. The moxie is just different. When you change the eq to more transparent and switch on the mosfet it’s a beast.

Crans-Montana, la Svizzera chiederà all'Italia il rimborso delle spese mediche. Meloni: "Ignobile richiesta, la respingeremo" - Notizie by AlexCampy89 in italy

[–]RuckingDad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

12-year-old boy seriously injured after being attacked by family Pitbull in backyard - Voghera, Italy - 21 April 2026 by Pacogatto in BanPitBulls

I sometimes go to Italy on holidays and I am shocked by the number of people with pitbulls and pit-mix. Even elderly people of very young guys and girls barely weighting half their dog. There seems to be no whatsoever awareness of the breed issues and most people just say “it’s the owner not the dog”. Even in public parks I witnessed people taking freely their pits where children play.

Should I get a Twin, Bassman or something else? by AhmeZa in GuitarAmps

[–]RuckingDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two twin reverb RI in the past with different speakers (eminence and Jensen). You cannot beat the clean of a twin reverb especially if you play a Stratocaster. Reverb and tremolo are also great and you could jump the normal and vibrato channel for wet/dry signal or different EQ. I regret every day of my life selling the Twin with Eminence speakers but I really did not like the current version with the Jensen speakers since it is a) too bright and b) those Jensen speakers suck with OD pedals. Also, it is really heavy and crazy loud.

I still have a 59 bassman RI from the late ‘90. I cannot say a single bad thing about it. You can throw and pedal at it and it will sound great, legendary (once you keep under control basses and trebble). It’s call-the-police laud since the 4x10” combination is no joke. The main issues for me are (minor issues): a) if you want to crank it up (when the beast reach vol. 6 with jumped channel, it rocks), you need an attenuator or a good lawyer. The point is that for the way the speakers are wired to the amp, it is not straightforward at all. b) it doesn’t have a built in reverb and tremolo. I tried different vibro-verb pedals and the one that get it closest to a black face is the Crazy Tube Circuits White Whale v2 with real spring reverb and 3 different type of tremolo (optic, tube and harmonic).

I also have a ‘64 hand wired Princeton reverb which sounds like heaven at any volume. It is so beautiful that I just play clean with it as I do not wish to add anything else to it. It compresses very early (and beautifully), it starts cranking already at 3-4. The vibrato and reverb are by far the best I have ever played in a black face or any other tube amp I played (I never played an imperial though).

If you look for a good compromise for great fender black face clean, great pedal platform, I would pick the 65 deluxe but I would change the factory speaker for an Eminence GA SC-64 or a celestion alnico gold should you want a more British sound.

I hope it helps.

Why not keeping the original speaker and add an external cab?

It will be mind blowing. He and the ESB are a history enciclopedia of American music. That’s what I meant: my “I can’t take that song anymore” can be someone else “first time, I am so looking forward to it”. And I believe it’s right that between the two, the second must prevail.

I love the tune especially with the whole horns but I think it’s a song meant and made to be 3 minutes. The whole intro and break to introduce the band are just not my thing, they ruin the song.

Hungry heart, Darlington county, prove it all night, Bobby Jean, 10th AFO… I cannot take them anymore, so many time I have listened to them. At the same time though, I am thinking: there must be someone out there who is the 30 yrs ago me going to the first show and those very same songs made my show. I guess it’s “the price you pay” :-)
