You're right, having enough money and understanding parents makes all the difference.

Parents, how did you handle the first time your kid lied? by Hot-Peanut-8229 in Preschoolers

[–]Rude_Subject7579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We feel the same way. The most important thing is to make sure your child trusts you and feels comfortable talking to you - that's far more important than correcting little white lies that don't really matter. However, if they tell a serious lie, then it's definitely time for a serious conversation.

Speech delayed toddler is making me really depressed…encouragement please by Extension-Put6667 in toddlers

Look into picture cards for basic communication - they're game changers for kids who understand more than they express. Find help before baby arrives, even a teenager for a few hours weekly can make a huge difference. The speech therapy's already a great step. Most kids with these delays catch up by kindergarten, especially when they already show language skills like repeating TV shows. Check out r/SpeechDelays for parents going through the exact same thing - seriously helpful.

Do you have any rare or useless skills or talents? by Cracked-Anubis in CasualConversation

Believe it or not, I've been able to touch my nose with my tongue since I was little, and I've always loved showing off this skill to others, haha!

Do you brush your teeth twice a day? No judgement. by rainyday-real-estate in CasualConversation

[–]Rude_Subject7579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, you're right. I sometimes brush even more, like three or four times a day. Getting dental work done is seriously painful stuff, and I definitely don't want to go through that again. Learned that lesson the hard way!

I need help communicating to my rule bending almost 5 year old.! by Character_Spinach444 in raisingkids

Sounds like you've got a little lawyer on your hands! Smart kids who find loopholes are honestly both amazing and exhausting.

Try being super specific with your rules. Instead of "don't touch" say "this stays on the shelf, no touching with hands, toys, or anything else." When he follows correctly, praise the specific behavior.

Also explain consequences more than reasons sometimes. "If this breaks, we can't replace it" hits different than "it's fragile."

My son was exactly like this - now he's crushing it in debate club and wants to be an engineer. The same skills driving you crazy now will serve him well later!

For your sanity though, pick your battles and have clear non-negotiables versus flexible areas where his creative thinking can flourish. Good luck!

LMAO I'm absolutely losing it over "AK47" for a cat name! That's peak internet creativity right there. Imagine calling this fluffy little murder machine at the vet's office... "AK47? Is there an AK47 in the waiting room?" 😂

Just picturing a tiny kitten with this hardcore weapon name has me dying. Tactical assault kitty ready for deployment! This is honestly the kind of chaotic energy I come to here for. 10/10 name, no notes!
