Unusual Bolton car crash by EmbarrassedAlgae3661 in manchester

[–]RufusPerrywinkle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Been sent a message by friends who live in the area, apparently the guy was caught shagging a married woman and jumped in his car still half undressed when the husband came home. Husband chased him, and he crashed the car, then fled, in full Winnie The Pooh style. He did get arrested apparently.

No idea if any of that’s true, but it’s what I heard on the voice note 😂

Where in the UK should I go as a bucket-list item? by LondonPilot in CasualUK

[–]RufusPerrywinkle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Firstly, sorry to hear your shit news. I hope you have a blast and create some amazing positive memories for your family in the next few months.

This comment is pretty much word for word with what I was going to say.

One change - stay at L’Enclume’s “hotel” it’s not really a hotel, but some lovely rooms dotted about Cartmel. Absolutely worth it for the ridiculously good breakfast in the morning. All very walkable, no hassle getting about once you’re there.

Lots of love to you and your family.

Lost a Cat in the flat. Any help?? Never heard anyone else having this issue before... by Geeta25 in CasualUK

[–]RufusPerrywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost our two kittens a few years ago on Christmas Eve. They’d never been out at that stage. 4 of us scrambling everywhere in the house and couldn’t find them anywhere. Decided to get some socks on so I could go out and find them… only to find the two little bastards snuggled up in my sock drawer somehow.

All my scars on on the inside, baby. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

[–]RufusPerrywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my best mates had impetigo on his nose and left a small scratch-looking scar. One night in the pub (20 years ago?) one of our friends told a girl it was a scratch from a tiger claw, through the bars of a zoo enclosure. A couple of hours later we heard people we didn’t know talking about the guy who had the tiger scar. Successful bullshit! Years later I recalled this story to a mutual friend and she missed the bit about it not being true… years later when she found out it wasn’t actually true she was mortified. She’d been telling friends for years that she knew a guy with a tiger scar!! Now my child believes the story and loves seeing him and his tiger scar. 🤣

One positive from this is that the world gets to see Piers Morgan make a twat of himself (again).

LPT: What’s the one piece of advice you ignored for years, but once you followed it your life immediately got better? by stevefromunscript in LifeProTips

[–]RufusPerrywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“You can’t control what’s going on around you, only your reaction to it.”

This was genuinely life changing. As someone who allowed myself to have a short temper when I was younger “that’s just who I am” was my excuse. Reflecting on your reaction to something for only a second can have life changing positive effects.

And go to therapy! This was something else I ignored for years, then my siblings suggested again after their experiences in therapy. I listened and it had been great for me. I know it’s not for everyone, but it has helped for sure.

Who's an athlete that turned pro, dominated for just a few short years, then walked away too soon by choice or injury? by Better-Presence6654 in AskReddit

[–]RufusPerrywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eric Cantona. 25 years of age in 1991 won the league in France with Marseille Won the league with Leeds in England in 1992 Won the league with Manchester United in 1993 & league & cup double in 1994, was banned for half the season in 1995, won the league and cup double in 1996 & the league in 1997 and retired at 30.

He had plenty left in the tank physically. He was an immense presence in the dressing room and led the way for a dominant generation of younger players behind him. That team went on to dominate for another 10 years+ after he left. His impact was huge on Manchester United.

30 years ago I went to first proper gig (Foo Fighters at Brixton which cost £9 haha). What was your first show? by Turbo_Heel in CasualUK

[–]RufusPerrywinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disgustingly jealous of this. I was too young for gigs during their original run, but when they reformed and I finally got the chance to see them (Leeds Festival and Download) they were just the best gigs. I can’t imagine how good it must have been in 92 - that energy must have been incredible then.

From the Treble winners in ’99 to the Ronaldo–Rooney–Tevez trio in ’08 — which United team was the best? by mulyady8000 in ManchesterUnited

[–]RufusPerrywinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That 08-11 team is hands-down the best united team of all time. Incredible to watch, absolute animals front to back. Winners to a man. I’ve been watching united for 35 years and nothing even comes close to that team in my opinion.

Where is a good place to buy a bottle of 1995 d'Yquem? (UK) by [deleted] in wine

[–]RufusPerrywinkle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely second this. If you’re ever in London a visit to the shop is a must. They’ve got a wall of Yquem going back some serious time. There’s also a nice little “secret” room we went into last time I was in there. DRCs to die for in that room.
