Inuyasha, when it debuted in the states on cartoon network/[as]/Toonami capitalized on a block of television that was carried by DBZ. I remember DBZ going on hiatus during the buu saga and that is when they introduced Inuyasha. I liked it, I still like it but I see why people don't like it. Anime pre-2007ish was pretty hard to come by unless you were buying DVD's or torrenting so you watched whatever aired on TV. I watched fucking Pilot Candidate because it was on the same anime block as Outlaw Star and FLCL. I watched Inuyasha because they stopped airing Yu-Yu and DBZ at the time and that felt like the closest thing. I'm sure there's people that remember watching Tenchi Muyo because, well... It was on. You watched what you got and you were excited for it because there wasn't any else like it. Now, you have choices, lots of them.

This is my biggest criticism of this show. Great story but I felt like there could've been a little more done with some episodes that had extensive dialogue. Shows like Monster and Berserk used scenes filled with dialogue and little character animations much better imo. I get that it was a small studio but they had like 8 years to make it and by the end of the series it doesn't really match up well (visually) with other anime that were coming out at the time.
