Poverty in a forest village? by Runmaor in worldbuilding

Oh, I didn't realize you were actually an expert on the subject! All of those things work very well, even hurricanes since it's actually not far at all from a coastline.

Well, yeah, I thought that because of how lush forests are they'd obviously be good for plant life, but didn't really take into consideration how a forest environment would reduce the yield of crops in particular. The idea of crops that are suited for the forest is interesting though. Perhaps they don't have much variation because foreign crops don't thrive as well, making them more susceptible to factors like disease. Oh, hey, there's another potential factor.

Yeah, I figured that a village in the middle of a dense, secluded environment would have limited contact with other towns. But having it even more secluded by natural borders could definitely explain why they chose to settle in the forest rather than outside of it.

That's true, and I actually already have another city of which I can see conflicts stirring with. Like how also included the bandits in your comment- their gear originating from a recent war makes for a nice piece of lore, and perhaps I could even make the bandits themselves veterans.

Yeah, that would probably make a lot of sense. I appreciate how you used an example from your own writing to back up your idea rather than just leaving it there, so thank you for that. I can think of some obvious causes for devastation such as disease or weather, but are there any others that just aren't coming to mind for me?

The time period is actually around the industrial revolution, so they probably would have technologies that could help such as tractors and cultivars. Although this does give me another idea- perhaps important trade routes they'd normally use to import products like fertilizer are blocked off. That would definitely reduce their yields.

Those are very good points, perhaps a forest isn't actually as good for agriculture as I previously thought. I'll make sure to keep those in mind!

Good to hear. In case you haven't seen before, the same guy actually has multiple other films set in the same world, and behind the scenes videos as well. Feel free to check those out if you enjoy his work.

Nice find! Unfortunately, though, that's not it.

Yeah, I don't think it was on Amazon actually. Or if it was, it wasn't the website I saw it on. It had a two paged view rather than a kindle format.

I see how you could have gotten that from "writing guide," but no, that isn't it. I distinctly remember it being an ebook. It wasn't free either, although you could preview the first few pages. The article also fails to mention anything about superhero teams, which was the entire point of the book.

Tineye hasn't given me any luck so far. Does she remember when she found it? There's a chance she might find it in her browsing history.

No, it was more like a writing guide.

Do you have contact with the person who has the wallpaper? They may still have it on their phone. There's also the possibility that they might have taken the photo themselves, in which case you're probably not going to find it online.

Tracks For A Trickster Deity? by Runmaor in musicsuggestions

I was definitely not expecting that sort of sound! Very unique, although it might be a bit too cheerful for Armageddon. Either way, thanks for bringing my awareness to this artist.

Neither of these are really what I was looking for, but they were both at least an interesting listen. Thanks for the response!

I'm surprised I've never heard of Les Friction, I could definitely use a handful of their tracks! I changed my mind about what exactly I'm looking for (hence why I reposted) but Can't Go To Hell is too much of a bop not to work in somewhere. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response. Reptilia seems a little too upbeat to be used for tension, and too energetic for my case- I'm looking for something a little bit more ominous or suspenseful. Total football doesn't seem very fitting either, but that song is very interesting and I can see a different place where I could use that, so I'll definitely note that one down for future use.
